Denver Green Jobs Project Manager
Mi Casa Resource Center
POSITION SUMMARY
The Denver Green Jobs Project Manager (Project Manager) is responsible for working with partners to launch and implement all aspects of the Green Jobs Initiative, including recruitment, developing and delivering training courses, placing individuals in jobs, and monitoring job retention and other outcomes. The Project Manager will ensure coordination of partner activities, serve as primary liaison with the U.S. Department of Labor, and carefully monitor that all project outcomes and deliverables are achieved. The Project Manager will also manage the budget, working closely with Mi Casa’s VP of Finance, Director of Career Programs, the Finance Team, and project partners. This is a grant-funded position that will end around December 2011. This position will be part of Mi
Casa’s Career Team and will participate in staff activities accordingly.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Leadership
• Responsible for working with project partners to ensure the effective launch, implementation, management and evaluation of the Denver Green Jobs Initiative
• Facilitates partner meetings and manages partnerships involved in the initiative
• Acts as the primary liaison on behalf of Mi Casa with the U.S. Department of Labor, including writing reports and attending webinars, training and grantee conferences
• Participates on Mi Casa’s management team, ensuring advancement of Mi Casa’s mission and goals
• Represents Mi Casa within the partnership, in the community, and at networking events
Program Management
• Leads efforts with project partners to develop and implement all aspects of the project, including developing program components, recruiting participants, delivering training, placing candidates in jobs, and monitoring job retention and other outcomes
• Will work with Mi Casa’s Career Team, the Denver Green Jobs Trainer and others to ensure Mi Casa’s training component of the initiative
• Works with VP of Finance, Director of Career Programs, the Finance Team and project partners to manage the project budget
• Ensures achievement of project outcomes by working closely with the evaluator and project partners
• Writes reports and manages partner contributions as part of reporting requirements
Operations Management
• Manages the property used for project implementation
• Contributes to Mi Casa’s organizational team effort by attending department and staff meetings
Community Relations
• Works with Project Leadership Team to develop and manage partnerships/relationships with community entities
• Works with Mi Casa’s Communications/Grant Manager and with project partners to coordinate the project’s public relations efforts, including press releases , e-newsletter and other media opportunities
Fundraising
• Works with the Mi Casa CEO, development team, and project partners towards the long-term sustainability of project activities
Other
• Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates should have a minimum of three years experience managing similar large-scale projects, including federal grants. Candidates should also have experience in workforce development and green industries. He/she should have a bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business management, human resources or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Candidates with strong ties in the Five Points community and bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent project management skills
• Experience managing federal grants
• Experience with budget management

This position is responsible for managing, coordinating, planning and controlling the District's financial reporting, including financial statement preparation for management, the Board of Directors and governmental agencies as assigned. Also responsible for proper classification of financial activity and application and guidance of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This position is responsible for maintaining the data integrity of the accounting systems and recording the financial activity of the District. Participates in the planning and coordinating process for the preparation of the District's annual budget and the integration of the budget with the Transit Development Program (TDP).
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college in accounting or related field.
Active Certified Public Accounting (CPA) accreditation.
Knowledge of legal and procedural accounting requirements of local, state, and federal agencies.
Working knowledge of current General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standard Boards (GASB).
Knowledge of internal control procedures.
Experience working with Oracle or other ERP systems and report writing as it relates to finance applications.

Superintendent of Mountain Parks
City and County of Denver
The City and County of Denver Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a Superintendent of Mountain Parks to exercise administrative oversight over the mountain park operations within the Parks and Recreation Department. Superintendent will report to the Director of Natural Resources and supervise approximately eight (8) full time staff.
The Mountain Parks program oversees a diverse portfolio of resources for the City and & County of Denver which include over 14,000 acres of open space outside Denver in the Counties of Jefferson, Douglas and Clear Creek. The mountain parks range from America's highest city park on Mt. Evans, to iconic parks such as Red Rocks, two bison herds and dozens of historic lodges and smaller park structures. The mountain parks program works directly with all other divisions within the Parks & Recreation Department as well as many other City departments and outside federal, state and county agencies.
Job Responsibilities:
Directs and supervises subordinate supervisors and operations staff involved in mountain park maintenance, forest management, construction projects, and administration.
Develops and manages annual budget for the mountain park program and allocates funds within the budget to accomplish objectives related to mountain parks.
In coordination with the Natural Resources Director and other key staff, lead the implementation of the Denver Mountain Parks Master Plan. Increase public awareness, understanding and appreciation of the various mountain park programs and resources.
Implements and interprets policies and procedures developed by higher level managers and recommends establishment or modification of policies and procedures.
Researches, develops, recommends, and implements staff training and development programs that provide opportunities for individual employee growth and long range employee development.
Researches and resolves operational and unforeseen procedural problems and addresses other concerns as directed or necessary. Coordinates projects with other City agencies and/or departments, customers, and handles sensitive public relations problems. Serve as the point of contact on key issues related to the mountain park program and articulately present critical information to City Council, the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, public interest groups, and the media when necessary.
Implements safety and security standards and develops procedures to ensure compliance, effectiveness, and efficiency of unit activities and safety standards.
Documents causes for disciplinary action, initiates letters of reprimand, and makes formal recommendations for disciplinary action. Responds to formal and informal employee grievances and prepares written responses.
Inspects and approves contract work in progress and upon completion ensures compliance with approved plans and specifications and also ensures the agency's compliance with federal and state regulations and requirements.
Work closely and effectively with the other divisions within the Parks & Recreation Department and other City departments, and lead the hiring of new staff within the division.
Represent the City of Denver at a variety of functions on the local and state level. Make oral presentations before civic, school, state and national professional seminars and/or other groups.
Act as liaison with a variety of City, county, districts, citizens' groups, state and federal agencies to facilitate and exchange information regarding natural resource issues.
