"Video Meets Documentation: Creating Effective Web-Based Learning Tools."

All across the Web, video has become a powerful learning medium from such things as "how-to" snippets, to extensive educational communications. More than printed manuals of yore, video combines text and graphics to take users effectively through the right sequence of steps so they truly learn. Healy will share some systematic methods, including open tools and standards, that content creators use to break video sequences into the components or tasks, the main building blocks of effective user assistance documentation development. He'll also demonstrate the correct order for video segments to be assembled and how to best manage, search, and reuse content for future productions, as well as how to integrate them to supplement current documentation systems you may already have in place.
Come learn:
* How to capture video with either screen-capture tools or video cameras;
* How to integrate video with your current documentation;
* How information architects collaborate with videographers;
* How technical communicators insert video segment references into source using standard authoring methods.

When: Tuesday, March 23, 2010
Program Schedule: 6:30 - 7:00 p.m.: Networking and light snack
7:00 - 8: 30 p.m.: Business meeting and program

RE: All-Star Breakfast Fundraiser for Warren Village featuring Mark Schlereth

Mark Schlereth to be Keynote for Friends of Warren Village All-Star Breakfast

Mention Mark Schlereth's name and most people conjure up memories of an All-Pro guard with three Super Bowl rings and two Pro Bowls under his belt. Foodies envision bowls of "Stinkin" good green chile. Either way, the Friends of Warren Village guild is proud to announce that Mark Schlereth will be the featured keynote speaker at the 2010 All-Star Breakfast on April 20th at the Denver Marriott City Center at 7:30 a.m.

This will be the tenth year for the All-Star Breakfast benefiting Warren Village, a local non-profit that assists low-income, single parent families in achieving personal and economic self-sufficiency. "We are thrilled to have such a widely respected athlete join our repertoire of speakers," said Sue Mohrman, President and CEO of Warren Village. "Last year we had Johnny Bench and he knocked the ball out of the park," said Mohrman.

In addition to being a 12-year NFL veteran, Mark joined ESPN as a television analyst in 2001 where his duties included TV appearances on NFL Live, Sports Center, ESPN News, as well as weekly contributions on various ESPN radio shows. And he brings plenty of football experience with him -- six seasons with the Washington Redskins and six with the Denver Broncos. Schlereth retired from professional football in 2002 after his 29th knee surgery. A tough, hard-nosed competitor, Schlereth played 156 games during his career.

Born in Anchorage, Schlereth was the first Alaska native to play in the NFL. Mark currently writes a weekly column for the Washington Examiner and a biweekly article for ESPN the Mag, "The Marksman." Mark resides in Denver with his wife Lisa. His three children are Daniel (recently drafted in the first round of the MLB Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks), Alex (an actress living in Los Angeles) and Avery (their youngest, living with the family in Denver while attending high school).

Don't miss this special opportunity to hear all about Mark defying the odds and his accomplishments that span football, acting, overcoming dyslexia and becoming the co-creator of "Stinkin" good green chile.

Tickets to this special event are only $70 per person or $700 per table of ten. To purchase your tickets, please go online to the www.warrenvillage.org website and click the "donate online" button. Great sponsorships are also available. Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. at the Marriott City Center Hotel located at 17th Street and California in downtown Denver.

Friends of Warren Village is an extraordinary group of volunteers who serve as ambassadors through volunteerism and fundraising efforts. The guild is actively seeking sponsorships for this exciting event featuring a local sports enthusiast.

Reserve your tickets now! Please note that local television personality and author Reggie Rivers will emcee the event! For further information about sponsorships, call 303-320-5052.

What: Nearly 1,000 guests, celebrity competitors and celebrity judges will come together for Dancing for the Youth at Goodwill, modeled after ABC's popular prime-time program, "Dancing with the Stars." An idea developed by Saunders, Dancing for Goodwill Youth will be a fun evening filled with food, lively music and a dance competition all in support of Goodwill's mission to support at-risk youth in Colorado.

The evening will kick off with cocktails and a silent auction at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and a live auction. Then the contest begins — featuring local celebrities paired with professional dancers from Robert Nardozza's Colorado Dancesport Studio. While the celebrity judges deliberate, those who purchased their evening attire from Goodwill will be eligible to enter the Best Goodwill Dressed contest for great prizes.

Tickets are $150 for individuals and $300 for a couple, and all proceeds will benefit Goodwill Industries of Denver and its youth services programs.
