We need a tech savvy, jack-of-all-trades with an insatiable curiosity for web and data services to fulfill this cross-functional roll. This is the perfect position for a sharp person with moderate technical skills and multiple interests to support the many parts of our industry leading, web-enabled services.
The perfect candidate will have experience with web server maintenance, server configuration/administration and will enjoy learning new technologies. This role, though quite technical, is not an IT or application developer role. There is collaboration and overlap with many departments, but this crucial position will focus on supporting our 40+ custom web-based applications and the servers and systems that drive them.
Responsibilities include:
1. Monitor, maintain, and administer web servers.
2. Create and update documentation for Websites and servers.
3. Provide technical assistance to internal as well as some external clients.
4. Monitor, maintain and administer website security and follows security processes for the services resident on web servers.
5. Install, maintain, and administer website statistics collection processes.
6. Act as a backup to assist network personnel.
7. Responsible for User ID creation, use, and password policy adherence.
8. First round testing and validation in website rollout; Documentation around QA procedures pertinent to individual clients.
9. Ability to work in a team atmosphere a must.
Experience:
1. Experience with web servers on multiple operating systems is preferred (IIS 6.0 & 7.0 required)
2. Strong experience with SQL database platform is required.
3. Exposure to HTML, JavaScript, and other web scripting.
4. Documentation skills will be needed to prepare and maintain server documentation for configurations, scripts, etc.
5. Ability to follow routine operational processes and improve or automate them to increase the speed, quality or efficiency of Servers.
6. Quick learner and self motivated.
7. Attention to detail is critical.

Network Adminstrator
City of Glenwood Springs
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Assists in all phases of the IS/IT functions under the direction of the IS Director. Primary duties will include maintaining, monitoring and operating the City’s vast network infrastructure including that of the Community Broadband Network. Network Infrastructure includes Cisco routers, switches, Call Manager and Unity VoIP servers, Firewall devices, Motorola Canopy Access Points, and other network devices. While consulting with the IS Director, this employee will develop, recommend and implement solutions which will maximize the network uptime of the system. Secondary duties include assisting the Systems Administrator to monitor, maintain and operate the City’s application base and associated servers. Moderate interaction with the public is required as this position will work
in a sales engineer capacity regarding new fiber optic installs and will be the primary point of contact for tech support related to existing fiber optic installs. Secondary responsibilities include periodic assistance with the management of 170 workstation computers and relevant client side applications. Works under the general supervision of the IS Director.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

This position requires a strong background in routing and switching as this position will be required to operate and maintain the City’s existing network infrastructure. Knowledge of spanning-tree protocol, VTP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP is required. Position will manage the City’s IPv4 and IPv6 inventory. Position will be required to juggle multiple projects and issues under demanding time constraints and shifting priorities. Must have a positive work attitude and maintain a high level of professionalism while working with City staff and the general public. This job includes troubleshooting large networks using diagnostic tools such as Ethereal, SNMP, CatTools, and PRTG. Maintain, operate and troubleshoot 60+ Motorola Canopy access points serving over 500 wireless subscribers.
Installs, patches, and make changes to Cisco Call Manager 4.3, 7.1, and Unity platforms. Patience and determination is required to work with vendors in order to resolve critical network issues. Develop and maintain support documentation including: network maps, change description documents, configuration descriptions, and ‘how-to’ for particular installations will be routine for this person. Maintaining and enhancing the security of the City’s network using Cisco ASA and Fortinet firewalls will be required. Install and configure Customer Premise Equipment for new Fiber Optic installations including Cisco Metro Ethernet and GPON technologies. Assists the System Administrator to maintain Linux (CentOS, Redhat, Suse, Ubuntu) and Microsoft (2000-2008) based servers
including services such as DNS (Bind), SQL (MySQL, MS SQL), Mail (Exchange, Sendmail), WWW (Apache, IIS), and DHCP. Periodic supervision of other City Staff is required. Keep apprised of emerging technology through training, education and industry publications. Manage additional projects as assigned by the Information Systems Director.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Five (5) years of experience in the technology arena with a minimum of 3 years advanced network support. Cisco CCNP or CCIP certification is required. *In lieu of CCNP certification the City will consider recent network administration duties in networks of similar complexity. Cisco CCVP, Juniper JNCIS, HP ASE, or Fiber Optic certifications are a bonus. Previous Fiber-to-the-home (FTTX, FTTH) experience is welcome. The job requires excellent technical and analytical ability to make “best judgment” decisions. Ability to learn new technologies quickly is required. Applicants must live within a 30 mile radius as defined by the City of Glenwood Springs. Applicants must possess a current, valid Colorado Drivers license.

Sr. System Administrator

Under limited supervision, this position plans, installs, monitors and maintains the operation of the Public Health department's server environment; performs advanced network and telecommunication system administration and support, including designing software architecture, programming, and writing specifications; and serves as the designated subject matter expert on Public Health domain assigned software, hardware and/or databases. Position also serves as a project manager/coordinator, responsible for reviewing and evaluating the daily work of outside contractors or vendors.
Essential Duties:
Plan, organize, supervise and monitor operations of critical computer systems and related equipment to ensure reliability and availability, including review of servers, backup devices, hubs, and telecommunication systems. Provide assistance in troubleshooting escalated issues related to system failures and problems. Design, implement and maintain disaster recovery plans and backup systems.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, information technology or a closely related field, or equivalent technical training specific to Microsoft networks and systems.
Special Requirements:
Must have FoundationMicrosoft Systems Certified Engineer (MSCE)at time of hire.
Must have Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)- Foundation within six months of hire date.
Must have a valid driver's license, if you are from out of state, you must have a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of hire date, and you must not have any major violations, nor more than one DUI, DWI, DWAI conviction in the past three years and must be available to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
