SUMMARY OF BASIC JOB FUNCTION:

Intern is responsible for supporting the Communications department. Key duties include assisting with writing/editing of press releases, archiving, monitoring media coverage, project management and coordinating/maintaining the integrity of other communications and projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Write press releases promoting DaVita awards, initiatives and other activities that enhance the company's reputation.
Create media lists and distribute relevant material to selected media outlets.

Position Summary: The National MS Society, Colorado-Wyoming Chapter is looking for a dynamic, energetic, responsible and organized individual to join the Development Team.  The development internship will work closely with the MuckRuckus MS Coordinator to oversee, manage, and coordinate MuckRuckus MS as well as assist in the retention, procurement and fulfillment of mass market event sponsorships.

Job Responsibilities:
•    Help organize, manage and execute promotional efforts for MuckRuckus MS Colorado
•    Assist the MuckRuckus MS Coordinator with external correspondence
•    Assist to retain, procure and fulfill cash and in-kind event sponsorships
•    Assist with MuckRuckus MS logistics such as: accounting, communications, event packets, operations manuals and mass mailings
•    Other event and sponsor related tasks as necessary

Work environment: Day to day responsibilities will be from a cubicle workstation at the Chapter office.  The position will require time in the evening and weekends as well as minor travel.  Some event and promotional activities will be conducted outdoors in variable weather conditions.

Public Policy Internship
The Colorado-Wyoming Chapter of the National MS Society


The Public Policy Internship is an opportunity to support the advocacy work of the Colorado Chapter of the National MS Society and Chronic Care Collaborative (CCC).
Responsibilities

The CCC is 23 voluntary health care organizations which have come together to advocate at the state level on behalf of 1.2 million Coloradans with a chronic illness, i.e. cancer, Alzheimer’s, lupus, heart, stroke, etc.
•    Research proposed related state legislation
•    Staff support to the CCC including developing strategy, getting organizational buy-in, setting agendas, and taking meeting minutes
•    A liaison with the members of the CCC
•    Help formulate policy and advocate on those policy issues with the Executive Departments and the Governor’s office
•    Support a registered lobbyist with talking points and background information on issues
•    Assist in developing strategies to engage constituents and the grassroots in the work
•    Develop targeted messages to constituents for publishing on-line

The Government Relations Committee is the volunteer directed committee of the Board of Directors which manages and directs the Chapter’s advocacy strategic plan
•    Provide staff support to the Committee
•    Research policies and impact on persons with MS

This position works closely with the Vice President of Programs and Legislative lobbyist.  The person will also work with the volunteer committee of the Society which directs legislative efforts.

This position will assist in creating a summer program for the legislative interim; to provide transition with current staff/interns; and to connect them with their constituents.

Qualifications
We are seeking a student, preferably at the Master’s level, studying public policy, or social work (preferably a second year student), communications, public relations, or political science, who is able to demonstrate analytical and critical thinking skills; displays interest and necessary skills in community organization; and has proficient computer and writing skills.  Time commitment is 16-20 hours a week.

Special Events and Fundraising Internship

Position Summary:
The Colorado-Wyoming Chapter of the National MS Society is looking for an energetic, driven and dependable individual to support Walk MS, Bike MS, Hike MS, and MuckRuckus MS.

Walk MS, Bike MS, Hike MS and MuckRuckus MS together raise over $6 million of the Colorado-Wyoming Chapter’s budget. Team participants move our organization forward by generating approximately 70% of our annual revenue.  It is important we work with our team participants to keep them informed, engaged and enthusiastic about fundraising and supporting our mission.  A student intern will have the opportunity to join all of our campaign plans in order to create an efficient, effective and unified overall team operation.  

Job Responsibilities:
•    Work closely with Walk MS, Bike MS, Hike MS and MuckRuckus MS team staff.
•    Create a system for ongoing team correspondence (i.e. cards are sent to them on special dates, etc.)
•    Connect with new teams on planning for the event, strategize fundraising, goal setting, etc.
•    Brainstorm and secure fun and unique incentives and prizes for teams: helicopter rides, weekend getaways, etc.
•    Solicit and secure food and beverages for local team events
•    Assist with organizing team weeks for Walk, Bike, Hike and Muck MS teams
•    Coordinate contests for staff during team weeks
•    Plan and implement a networking/events kick off event for Chapter participants
•    Assist with preparation for Denver Walk MS, Bike MS, Hike MS, and MuckRuckus MS
•    Provide general office support for the teams program
•    Serve as liaison to teams during Denver Walk MS: May 4, 2013
•    Serve as liaison to teams during Bike MS: June 29-30 2013  
•    Serve as liaison to teams during Hike MS: July 27, 2013 (preferred but not required)
•    Serve as liaison to teams during MuckRuckus MS: date TBD (preferred but not required)

Work environment:
Time will be spent in the Denver Office, in the Denver Metro area meeting with participants and attending events.

Length:  
The beginning of January 2013 through first week of June 2013.  Would prefer the internship extend through September 2013, but it is not mandatory.

Position Summary: The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Colorado-Wyoming Chapter, is looking for a dynamic, energetic, responsible and organized individual to join the Development Team. The Special Events and Logistics Intern is an exciting position within the chapter, working directly with the Bike MS Coordinator to assist in overseeing, managing, and coordinating certain aspects of Bike MS and associated events.

Job Responsibilities: Over the course of the internship position, the Bike MS Special Events and Logistics Intern will have responsibilities including, but not limited to:
•    Assisting the Bike MS Coordinator with correspondence between vendors, participants, and the Chapter
•    Assisting in securing restaurant sponsors for various volunteer meetings
•    Assisting with accounting, routine paperwork, mailings, faxing, check requests, and photo copying
•    Securing and organizing all DJs and entertainment for the Bike MS weekend
•    Researching and developing a “Green” program to introduce into Bike MS
•    Assisting in the planning and organization of the High Roller Training Ride
•    Assisting other Chapter staff as needed
•    Serving on the Bike MS Committee in the role of I Ride with MS Coordinator and Community Liaison

Work environment: Cubicle workstation. Position requires some travel. Event day responsibilities are conducted outdoors in many possible weather conditions.

Volunteer Engagement and Management Intern

Position Summary: This position works directly with the Community Engagement Manager to recruit, engage and retain volunteers.  The Colorado-Wyoming Chapter of the National MS Society has over 1,600 volunteers, each one playing a vital role in the organization’s success.  

Job Responsibilities:
•    Assist with volunteer communication including confirmation of registration, event and assignment details, training materials and post event recognition and surveys
•    Assist with day-of event logistics including check-in and floater crew management
•    Assist in indentifying and recruiting groups to fill volunteer positions
•    Assist with volunteer training sessions including: attending/facilitating sessions, preparing training materials, locating and scheduling venue and securing in-kind food and beverage donations for training sessions.
•    Update and maintain volunteer website and registration system (after training)

Work environment: Cubicle workstation. Position requires some local travel.  Event day responsibilities will be conducted outdoors in variable weather conditions.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position runs from January through June of 2013, and will assist the
Public Affairs and Communications department with the daily activities of coordinating our
Colorado General Assembly vote tracking project, planning and coordinating meetings and
special events, assisting with database updates and assisting with press outreach. This position
is an excellent entre into the Public Affairs field working with one of the highest profile Public
Affairs shops in Denver.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

1.      During legislative session (Jan–May), the main responsibility will be to input and update data in the Chamber’s legislative bill tracking system. This will require navigating general assembly website to gather all legislators’ committee/floor votes, tracking the votes in a proprietary database and assisting with compiling the final “Scorecard” report. Intern will present periodic updates to the Chamber’s Legislative Policy Committee, once at mid-session and once or twice at the end of the session, offering an excellent opportunity for face time in front of leading Front Range executives and public policy experts.

2.    During the months of May and June, intern will finalize data gathered over the session, work with the Public Affairs team to create descriptive copy, and work with a contract graphic designer to produce the Legislative Scorecard and Scorecard Full Report.

3.    Assist with PA event and meeting logistics, including meeting room set-up and tracking RSVPs, along with managing special needs like speaker support, AV, off-site meetings, etc. Provide logistical support for Public Affairs-related events, such as assistance with tracking event reservations and payments and day of event registration and volunteer management and other duties that arise.  

4.    Continually manage, maintain, and update the Council and Committee Rosters in membership database, with special attention to membership levels and representative contact information.  

5.    Provide accounting and administrative support services for the department, including the preparation of purchase orders.

6.    Responsible for assisting with general office support for the PA department including ordering department office supplies, special gifts, purchase orders, subscriptions, etc.

7.    Manage and create advocacy alerts with communications team.

8.    Work with communications team to produce articles for e-magazine Business Altitude.

9.    Manage other projects as assigned by the Public Affairs or Communications team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
 
EDUCATION: Student with 2-years of education and/or experience in Public or Media Relations, Public Affairs, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or combination.

SKILLS:
-Experience with web-based technology and audio/visual technology for communication
 purposes, and strong computer skills including word processing and presentations.
-Must exhibit competency in MS Office, especially Word, Outlook, Publisher and Excel as well as
 membership database.
-Well-organized and detail-oriented.
-Must be self-driven and able to manage long-term projects without repeated direction,
 versatile, flexible, and able to manage numerous constantly changing issue environments.
-Need high degree of professionalism and ability to contribute positively to a strong team
 environment.  
-Must build absolute trustworthiness and confidence with department and department’s
 volunteer members and project a positive and professional image to Chamber members.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  None    

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:
-Typical office equipment, including personal computers and printers.  
-Must be familiar with Microsoft Office and related software.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
-Ability to lift 50 lbs.
-Ability to travel locally.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
-Typical office environment.
-Will need to be available to set up for early morning meetings (7:00 a.m.) every Tuesday during the Legislative Session and three Fridays a month, as well as other meetings as necessary.

Description

The Digital Project Coordinator is in charge of editorial and web-based content for Alice1059.com, KOSI101.com, 995themountain.com and Studio1430.com. The coordinator will be in charge of writing, editing and enhancing station branding through all digital platforms for Entercom Denver. The online content will also complement on-air programming, marketing and revenue campaigns.

Responsibilities and duties include:

Write creative and unique editorial content for station websites
Copyedit content on a daily basis
Utilize SEO best practices on all online editorial content
Create and send e-newsletter blasts
Work closely with programming, marketing and sales to propel digital content
Shoot and edit video for station events and artist performances
Photograph and cover station events and other local happenings
Graphics support as-needed (digital, print and signage)

Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree in journalism or experience in a related field is a must
Possess a strong understanding of online publications
Have working knowledge of advertising and terminology
Project management skills are critical including adaptability, time management and meeting objectives/deadlines; ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to manage multiple projects; must be organized and attentive to detail
Have excellent communication skills
Knowledge of online content management systems required
Basic HTML, Flash and JavaScript knowledge strongly preferred
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team
Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver is strongly preferred
Troubleshoot online user-interface issues and other technical issues as they arise
Experience with streaming media, online video, and online multimedia applications in general — including Brightcove and Ando Media
Video filming and editing a plus

Stanley BPS is seeking intern candidates to participate in our Teacher Preparation Program in the fields of Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education.

TEACHER LICENSURE: COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
The Stanley Teacher Preparation Program, in conjunction with the Colorado Department of Education, offers an option of either a Colorado Early Childhood Education Initial License or a Colorado Elementary Education Initial License. Interns enrolled in the licensure program receive credit for working full time in the classroom. In addition, interns take 225 clock hours of coursework on Thursday afternoons throughout the school year.

MASTER'S DEGREE OPTION: UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO DENVER
Interns also have the option of receiving graduate credit hours for their work in the classroom and the coursework seminars. After acceptance into the program, interns may enroll in a master's degree program, which is offered through our partnership with the University of Colorado Denver. Interns may apply for the Master of Arts in Educational Psychology with a concentration in one of three areas: Human Learning & Development, Early Childhood Education, or Early Literacy.
