Working as an associate with four senior leaders at a boutique, consulting firm for nonprofits, I took active roles in all company activities including outward facing projects with clients and internal company planning. I assisted with strategic planning and relationship management projects by facilitating cross-functional teams of individuals from managerial to senior levels, helping teams create action plans for implementing strategies and tactics, and synthesizing strategic planning concepts into tangible deliverables.
I strengthened my writing and communications skills by drafting and developing content for RFPs, client webinars, trend reports, sales emails, white papers, and company blog posts. I also analyzed market research data for application in the nonprofit space.
I also directed and managed the firm's marketing strategies. I helped launch the company blog and managed posts from the team and guest contributors. I improved the company's brand awareness on social media, growing company followers and increasing online interaction via these channels.
Prior to my experience in consulting, I was heavily involved with nonprofits. In positions ranging from tutoring inmates to managing volunteers at a homeless shelter, from development to event planning, I cultivated the skills needed for building relationships with nonprofit professionals, agencies and students, and for managing volunteers in direct service programs.
The most fulfilling aspects of my experiences involve having the opportunity to work with those directly impacted by the organization's mission. Have you heard of the federal "Cash for Clunkers" program?
If so, then you are familiar with my work. I single-handedly led the public relations effort to introduce and grow support for the popular car replacement program. I appeared in national print publications, radio broadcasts and network news segments to promote and ultimately expand it. For this success, we were recognized by the DC chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) in Public Affairs/Issue management.
