Strategic Marketing Manager

Reports directly to the President & CEO

Job purpose

The Strategic Marketing Manager is responsible for managing and implementing the Chamber’s overall marketing and communication strategy, ensuring alignment with our mission to support business, drive economic vitality, and elevate the voice of our members.

In addition to marketing responsibilities, this position also serves as Executive Assistant to the President & CEO, providing key administrative and communications support.

This is a full-time hourly position ranging from $25-28/hour, with full benefits including paid time off, matching 401k, and health insurance (including vision and dental coverage).

We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented professional who excels at messaging, brand development, and visual communication while also demonstrating professionalism, discretion, and reliability in supporting executive leadership.

Duties and responsibilities

Marketing & Communication Strategy

  • Develop and implement integrated marketing strategies that promote Chamber programs, events, and advocacy priorities.
  • Create and manage content for newsletters, social media, e-blasts, flyers, and annual reports.
  • Ensure brand consistency and visibility across all internal and external communications.
  • Maintain and optimize the Chamber website for performance, engagement, and user experience.
  • Design and manage promotional and presentation materials, including digital and print collateral for third-party appearances and community partnerships.
  • Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and public-facing communications.

Executive Support to the President & CEO

  • Provide administrative support to the President & CEO, including calendar management, meeting scheduling, and travel arrangements.
  • Prepare agendas, background materials, and follow-up notes for internal and external meetings involving the CEO.
  • Assist with the development of board packets, presentation decks, and talking points for public speaking engagements.
  • Coordinate CEO communications, including drafting letters, emails, and announcements for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support relationship management efforts by organizing contact lists, tracking outreach, and managing invitations for key stakeholder events.
  • Ensure timely follow-through on CEO-related deadlines and requests by helping organize information and task reminders.

Cross-Departmental & Member Collaboration

  • Work with other Chamber team members to ensure communications align with membership, advocacy, events, and development goals.
  • Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to promote engagement and enhance visibility of Chamber-led initiatives.

Measurement, Data & Innovation

  • Track marketing and engagement metrics using available tools to assess effectiveness and guide future planning.
  • Lead the design, distribution, and analysis of community and member surveys to gather feedback and identify emerging needs.
  • Compile and report on data to inform communication strategies, programming decisions, and organizational messaging.
  • Stay current with marketing and communications trends to incorporate new ideas and technologies into the Chamber’s outreach efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field preferred but not required.
  • 2–4 years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations; prior experience providing executive or administrative support strongly preferred.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a keen eye for detail and tone.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to generate fresh, impactful ideas that align with strategic goals.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools, social media platforms, website CMS (e.g., WordPress), and marketing analytics platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and comfort working across both cloud-based and desktop applications.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) preferred but not required; proficiency with Canva or other design platforms expected.
  • Strong graphic and visual content development skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders including members, partners, and community leaders.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with experience preparing and managing materials for meetings and public engagements.
  • Highly organized and able to work independently and collaboratively within a small team.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups of partners and stakeholders at various levels of responsibility.
  • Comfort collecting and analyzing data to inform decisions, including surveys, engagement tracking, and performance metrics.
  • Discretion and professionalism in managing confidential materials and executive communications.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local travel.

Working conditions

  • This position will involve primarily working indoors
  • Work will be conducted within the constraints of frequent interruptions
  • Travel is often required but is primarily limited to the Grand Valley
  • Early morning and evening hours are likely to be required on occasion

Physical requirements

  • Lift, carry, push, and pull: The individual in this position normally lifts and carries objects not weighing more than 25 pounds, generally files or small office supplies and equipment.
  • See and hear: Must have adequate visual acuity to translate information into the computer and complete manual documentation, this is required on an almost continual basis. Must have adequate auditory abilities to respond to staff and visitors

Compensation Range: $25-28/hour plus benefits. Possibility of overtime with pre-approval.
