Job Summary:

The Associate Athletic Director External Relations will be responsible to assist in leading a successful NCAA Division II athletic program by serving as a member of the senior staff leadership team that is committed to excellence, integrity and advancing the Department's mission and strategic vision. The Associate Athletic Director External Relations will report directly to the AVP and Director of Athletics and assist in ensuring that all programs, coaches, staff, and student-athletes are in compliance with the policies and rules of Regis University, the RMAC and the NCAA.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Athletic Marketing and Corporate sponsorship program (40%)

  • Develop and implement five year strategy to increase marketing and corporate sponsorship program revenues
  • Personally responsible to work with local and national businesses to secure corporate sponsorships in the $7,500+ annual range
  • Assist with fulfillment of sponsorship contracts
  • Supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director External Relations
  • Monitor and Balance the Program Budget
    • Assist in developing, implementing and execution of revenue plan to balance budget
    • Pcard approval of all expenses in this area

 

Annual Giving (20%)

  • Blue and Gold Club
    • Serve as the director of the Blue and Gold Club, overseeing fundraising efforts for all 12 varsity sports, athletic department general fund, strength and conditioning and athletic training
    • Develop and implement a five year strategy to increase general fund revenues
    • Oversee the processing of all paperwork, donations and gifts for Blue and Gold Club members
    • Fullfill all Club benefits.
    • Liason with University Advancement Annual Giving
  • Ranger Athletic Scholarship Fund
    • Assist in the planning and implementation of annual department scholarship fundraisers
      • Iggy Beer Fest
      • Father Shelton Golf Tournament
  • Cultivate, solicit and steward annual giving donors and prospects
  • Supervision of the External Relations Graduate Assistant

 

Event Management and Game Day Administration (5%)

  • Oversight of all aspects of event management
    • Supervise “game crew” event staff for home athletic contests and special events
    • Detail and fill out game reports for home athletic contests
    • Assist in the set up and tear down of facilities for home athletic contests
    • Assist with crowd control, liaison to coaches and officials, manage work studies, concessions and ticket sales.

 

Brand Management (1%)

 

  • Oversight of all aspects of Regis Athletics Brand Management

 

Sports Information (5%)

 

  • General day to day oversight of program administration
  • Assist in overall communications strategy for the department
  • Hire and Supervise staff
  • Monitor and Balance the Program Budget
    • Assist in developing, implementing and execution of revenue plan to balance budget
    • Pcard approval of all expenses in this area

 

Athletic Facilities (5%)

  • General day to day oversight of program administration
  • Assist in overall facility planning short and long term.
  • Hire and Supervise staff
  • Monitor and Balance the Program Budget
    • Assist in developing, implementing and execution of revenue plan to balance budget
    • Pcard approval of all expenses in this area

 

Sport oversight for Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Softball and Baseball (20%)

  • General day to day oversight of program administration
  • Hire and Supervise staff
  • Monitor and Balance the Program Budget
    • Assist in developing, implementing and execution of revenue plan to balance budget
    • Pcard approval of all expenses in this area

 

Other

 

Administrative Duties (3%)

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of annual department events
  • Fulfill Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) obligations.  Including attend conference meetings, serve on conference committees, and assist in the planning and hosting of RMAC championships
  • Assist in the planning and hosting of NCAA championships
  • Serve on regional and national committees
  • Serve on campus committees
  • Represent Regis at national conventions and seminars

 

Create an Atmosphere of Compliance (1%)

 

  • Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing of the NCAA, the RMAC and the Regis Athletic Department.
  • Supervise and ensure that any assistants and any other employees and/or volunteers for whom you are administratively responsible comply with the aforesaid policies, rules and regulations.
  • Immediately advise the Regis compliance director if you have reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees or students, have occurred or will occur.

 

The Director of Athletics is the Associate Athletic Director External Relations immediate supervisor in all matters with Regis University.  In order to insure a highly competitive NCAA Division II athletics program, performance of these duties will be continually evaluated and monitored.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 years’ experience working in an intercollegiate athletics program.
  • The Associate Athletic Director External Relations must have a strong working knowledge on all aspects of a Division I/II External Relations Unit, proven record of fundraising and revenue production, management/supervisory experience, NCAA, RMAC and Regis University rules and regulation.
