The Magazine Editor produces a high-quality and engaging magazine for the university community, including alumni, parents, faculty, staff, donors and other key stakeholders.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The Editor will oversee the production of the Regis University Magazine for its digital and print editions, including scheduling the flow of all content. The Editor will help write and edit internal communications, including Regis Today and Experience Regis, and external communications, such as news releases — time permitting.


Duties include leading the creation, assignment, and coordination of written content, photography, design, advertising, printing, mailing and distribution of the magazine. This includes hiring freelancers when needed and ensuring content is properly copy edited and fact checked. The Editor is the senior writer for the magazine. The Editor contributes to all facets of the editorial team’s work, as needed, including for Regis Today, Experience Regis, news releases, media pitches and more. 


The Editor is part of the Marketing and Communications department and collaborates with colleagues, as needed, to develop strategies and content for marketing, social media and web site projects.



  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in a journalism, communications, public relations or relevant role.
  • Proficiency with written English language, AP style and grammar.
  • Experience developing, writing and editing news and/or feature stories for a magazine; newspaper work could be substituted. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of editorial processes, publication standards and branding
  • Demonstrated creativity and idea generation that aligns with marketing strategy and produces clear, effective content
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work effectively under pressure and to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to gather and interpret research and data from primary and secondary sources
  • Strong attention to detail and desire for accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the desire to collaborate
  • Ability to proactively lead a project and motivate team members



  • Experience as an editor for a magazine (assignments, editing, writing, coordinating artwork, overseeing design)
  • Experience recruiting, hiring, supervising and editing freelance writers
  • Familiarity with the Jesuit mission and its emphasis on service to others
  • Experience in higher education or similar academic institution.



Pay Rate:

Salary commensurate with education and experience
