Job Description: 

The Humane Society of the South Platte Valley is a small animal shelter located in Littleton, CO.  We have been open since 2009 and have built some really great relationships within our surrounding communities.  We are looking for a Marketing and Outreach Manager to help us expand awareness and support for the animals in our care.  This person will be responsible for the planning and execution of public events, social media marketing, website and email marketing platforms.

This position assists the Shelter Director throughout the year in development and fundraising efforts. These efforts include organizing and attending small and large events and assisting with the organization’s annual sustainability campaign through online and in-person sponsorship promotion and donor development.

The Marketing and Outreach Manager also assists with other programs and duties as assigned by the Shelter Director.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Public Outreach and Marketing
    • Create and manage website pages and social media accounts and review sites (Google, Yelp, Facebook)
    • Works with Shelter Director on media relations
    • Prepares quarterly newsletter
    • Work with outside graphic designers on complex promotional materials
    • Create meaningful community connections with municipalities, organizations, and individuals as directed by the Shelter Director
    • Assist with donor management and retention and database coordination
    • Actively seeks new potential community partners
    • Coordinate, develop and maintain relationships with offsite event volunteers and ensures that volunteers are following shelter policies and procedures and providing the public with appropriate messaging
    • Maintain a comprehensive list of sites and passwords related to internet sites that the shelter is included on
    • Provide reports on social media, Google Analytics, Google AdWords and outreach efforts
  • Event Planning
    • Planning and execution of events from inception to post event follow-up, including sponsorships, marketing, in-kind donations, ticket sales coordination of facilities, catering, transportation, online registration, sponsorship fulfillment, volunteers recruitment and management, etc.
    • Create and provide content for Public Notices, Marketing Brochure, and event programs, etc.
    • Coordinate with graphic designers, event planners, etc. on larger projects
    • Assist during events including coordinating volunteers as directed by Shelter Director
    • Assist Shelter Director in researching, soliciting, and acknowledging event sponsors
  • Programs
    • Provide program documentation, budget tracking, and invoicing
    • Design and edit promotional graphic materials for various programs
    • Communicate with program partners, attend community meetings, and provide updates
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in or a combination of the following: Marketing, Public Relations, Event Planning, Fundraising and Development or a related field
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience
  • Self-Motivated (ability to work independently, follow through projects to completion and meet deadlines), Teamwork (positive, pleasant and professional team player)
  • Flexibility & Adaptability (events are often held on weekends and evenings), Prioritizing, Attention to detail and accuracy, Planning and organization
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, Ability to work effectively with committee structures, Creative Problem assessment and problem solving
  • Graphic and website design skills (Exceptional eye for quality graphics and proof reading skills), Computer Skills, Social Media skills
  • Windows computer, Microsoft Office, Abobe Creative Suite, WordPress, various other types of computer software, printer, copy machine, telephone, various other office equipment
  • Must have a good driving record and provide copy of current auto insurance coverage (we will pull an MVR prior to hiring)
Compensation/Benefits

Annual salary – $40,000.  The Humane Society pays 100% of eligible employee’s health insurance premium. The position includes 3 weeks of paid time off per year.
