Based out of our Home Office in Greenwood Village, CO, the Vice President of Consumer Insights will be responsible for providing consumer, guest and competitive insights that are critical to running and growing the business, deepening relationships with current customers and acquiring new customers, and maintaining Red Robin’s differentiation.  This position supports Marketing, Innovation, Alternate Business Channels, Revolution and Operations and serves as an integral part of the senior team in providing expertise and consultative support for a broad range of initiatives that will capitalize on best in class, business-driving consumer insights and understanding across Red Robin Gourmet Burgers. 

 
Responsibilities: 
  • Strategic thought-partner to senior team, helping to develop consumer-grounded long- and short-term plans for the brand, including strategic growth and innovation initiatives
  • Champions customer understanding, focus and inspiration throughout Red Robin so that all functions fully embrace Customer-centricity
  •  Proactively communicates customer and brand learning across the organization so all functions have a comprehensive, consistent and up-to-date understanding of customers and their relationship with Red Robin
  •  Uses customer data to create company-wide buy-in and drive action, and to establish goals and assess performance against metrics that matter to consumers
  • Partners with Financial Planning and other functions to constantly monitor, identify and assess consumer, competitive, economic, technology and industry changes and trends, and their implications for Red Robin’s strategies and plans
  •  Provides ongoing research and insights support to Marketing, Innovation, Alternative Business Channels, Operations, and the Revolution group
  • Proactively plans, directs, and leads strategic insights work to deepen consumer understanding across RRGB, help further major initiatives, and uncover new opportunities
  • Oversees marketing research studies to ensure they have clear objectives based on business needs, clear success criteria with buy-in and alignment, strong design and execution, and accurate, insightful and actionable analysis and recommendations
  • Builds and maintains a high-performing Consumer Insights team, including both internal hires and external partners.  Provides strong leadership to maintain a positive business climate, motivate Team Members, encourage teamwork, and provide opportunities for growth and development
  • Models, nurtures and encourages key traits of curiosity, proactivity, innovation, results-orientation and integrity within the Consumer Insights team. Balances a strong focus on the consumer with a deep understanding of business realities
  • Leads exploration and assessment of new external research partners and methodology innovations in pursuit of best-in-class tools and techniques to enable better, deeper, faster and/or more cost-effective insights 
Qualifications: 
  •  10+ years in marketing research, with demonstrated experience in leadership, management and strategic thinking
  •  Restaurant industry marketing research experience required
  • College degree; business, marketing, math/statistics, or marketing research, preferred
  • Expert in quantitative and qualitative research methods; experienced with syndicated services
  • Excellent strategic thinking and planning skills
  • Demonstrated ability to draw critical conclusions from research analyses, to provide authoritative advice and make persuasive recommendations
  • Ability to work closely with other senior officers to elicit, refine, and articulate vision
  • Strong business acumen
  • Superior quantitative, qualitative and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to identify and solve problems independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills; Ability to establish trust and credibility to build supportive relationships
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; Ability to find and tell the story

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Software (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
