The Director of Major and Corporate Gifts develops and carries a portfolio of prospective philanthropic individual and corporate donors with a focus on raising major gifts for the Colorado Community College System’s strategic objectives. In this capacity, the Director may oversee discrete, time-sensitive fundraising projects, focusing on prospecting, cultivating, and soliciting or positioning CCCS’s leadership to solicit major and principal philanthropic gifts for CCCS. This position will have a significant focus on prospect identification and the development of viable prospects.
The Director will design and implement a strategic development approach to determine potential donors’ financial ability, capacity, and interest in making major gifts. The Director will conduct one-on-one visits with donors for the purpose of qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. The Director will maintain records of all cultivation strategies, evaluations, solicitations, contact reports, and results of all contacts with prospects.
The Director must inspire and maintain positive relationships and communications with Foundation and CCCS colleagues to strengthen donor relationships and philanthropic giving to CCCS. The Director will work closely with the Executive Director of the Foundation for Colorado Community Colleges and, at times as approved by the Executive Director, the Chancellor of the Colorado Community College System to help position them to conduct one-on-one cultivation and solicitation visits. The Director will ensure that all such visits are documented within the donor database and that appropriate follow up steps are taken.
Annually, the Director will be expected to meet or exceed fundraising metrics developed by the Executive Director of the Foundation for Colorado Community Colleges. The Executive Director will meet with the Director on a quarterly basis to review progress toward stated metrics. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
