Community Resources and Housing Development Corporation

CRHDC has a rich history that dates back to the spring of 1971. Originally a derivative of Colorado Migrant Council, it was incorporated to address intolerable housing and living conditions plaguing migrants and seasonal farm workers in Colorado. In the first 25 years of operation, Colorado Rural Housing Development Corporation (CRHDC) concentrated primarily in rural markets providing a wide array of services that addressed the affordable housing needs of the residents and communities.

The mission of the organization has since expanded to address many housing needs and asset-building opportunities—both rural and urban—on a state-wide scale. CRHDC now takes more holistic approach in delivering its services and has incorporated new lines of business that provide clients and communities with more sustainable housing and economic development efforts. To reflect the broader reach of the organization, the board of directors, staff and partners has agreed to change the corporation’s name to Community Resources and Housing Development Corporation (keeping the acronym CRHDC) in 2009.

CRHDC has worked in 30 counties in Colorado and has overseen the construction of over 1700 “Self-Help” homes for households of low-to-moderate income. CRHDC has also built over 500 units of farm worker housing and over 300 units of affordable multi-family housing across the state.
