Routt County Humane Society

The Routt County Humane Society (RCHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, providing humane education, promoting spaying and neutering as a means of decreasing the number of unwanted pets, and encouraging respect for the dignity and worth of all animals.

RCHS was founded in 1985 and in May 2015 took over management and operations of the animal shelter from the City of Steamboat Springs, transforming it into a full-service adoption center. Other RCHS programs include assistance for pets from low income families, community spay/neuter programs, education, and feral cat trap/neuter/release as well as a variety of other volunteer programs.
