The TEGNA Design Tank is seeking a Multi-Skilled Art Director to join our staff in Denver, CO. This role requires outstanding design, execution, leadership, and communication skills. The Art Director will report to the Sr Creative Director. This position will also work closely with the Design Production Manager and Production Coordinator, as well as other team members across all TEGNA stations.

This is a full-time, exempt position that sits at KUSA/KTVD in Denver, Colorado.

Responsibilities:

  • This position will be part of the Design Tank’s Leadership Team and will oversee 4-5 direct reports.
  • Will have design approval responsibilities on many projects.
  • Executes high-quality motion graphics, animations, and visual effects that align with project goals and branding.
  • Creates and implements new designs, packages, and branding projects from concept to completion.
  • Ability to oversee layout, typography, and visual elements.
  • Will be an alternate contact for station, marketing, and corporate projects.
  • Duties involve guiding aesthetics and visual communication to ensure the design is in line with the overall creative direction.
  • Responsibilities include serving a diverse range of clients across all TEGNA stations, performing effectively under tight deadlines, and multitasking efficiently to meet various demands.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior designers, helping to develop their skills and enhance the overall team output.

Requirements: 

  • Candidate must have had formal training in design/art at trade school or college. 
  • Associate or bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of seven years as a Motion Graphic Designer in a professional production environment (broadcast production preferred).
  • Exceptional skills in Adobe CC Suite required, specifically After Effects. Knowledge of Premiere and Cinema 4D preferred.
  • Demonstrated superior design skills.
  • Must have outstanding motion design experience.
  • Must possess strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Able to perform under very tight deadlines and act as subject matter expert.
  • Possesses excellent spelling and grammar skills.

Pay Range

$87,000 – $92,000 USD
