Professional Assist Corp
Do you have an eagle eye for detail? Can you spot a misplaced comma from a mile away? Do you love the smell of freshly edited copy in the morning? Then, you might be the perfect fit for our Associate Editor role. We’re looking for an editor, a wordsmith, a grammar geek. We’re not looking for a content creator, a marketing adjacent expert, a graphic designer, a videographer, or a podcast producer.
We’re Professional Assist Corporation (PAC)—a group of four membership associations based in Genesee, Colorado, offering our 120,000 members benefits and liability insurance to help them be more successful in their careers. We serve the massage and beauty professions through Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals, Associated Skin Care Professionals, Associated Hair Professionals, and Associated Nail Professionals. Among our member benefits are three professional printed magazines—Massage & Bodywork, ASCP Skin Deep, and AHP Indie Stylist—of which the perfect candidate will work on.

PAC is situated in the foothills west of Golden, Colorado, in Genesee, 20 minutes west of Denver. We have a beautiful view of the spectacular Colorado high country. We embrace a hybrid work environment: Tuesday through Thursday, we work in our office; Mondays and Fridays, we have the option to work from home. This position is nonexempt and reports to the Editorial Director.
Responsibilities
You’ll:
- Proofread and edit articles, stories, and manuscripts to perfection
- Work closely with writers to refine their drafts and enhance their voice
- Assist in selecting content for our publications, blog, and social media
- Dive into the details to ensure every fact is spot-on
- Keep an eye on industry trends and bring fresh ideas to the table
- Serve as a contributing editor for Massage & Bodywork, Skin Deep, and Indie Stylist magazines: edit all articles for all print magazines
- Write departments for each of the print magazines
- Serve as backup to the Editorial Director for all legislative updates and government relations emails and post updates
- Edit all marketing materials and member emails before distribution to members
- Produce, curate, and/or edit blogs for all association websites
- Make an estimated 25 expired member outreach calls per week
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Chicago Manual of Style
- Knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, Excel a plus
- Exceptional editing, writing, grammar, and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Microsoft Word
- Comfortable pursuing ongoing training and education in editorial and publishing best practices
- Experience working with teams on large-scale projects
- Follow through on issues in a consistent and timely manner
- Work as part of an energetic, thoughtful team
- Be able to provide and accept constructive criticism on projects and work content
- Ability to see big-picture and minute details
- Ability to brainstorm and problem-solve with team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in related fields (journalism, communications, English, etc.)
- 1–3 years of experience working in editorial capacity a plus
- Understanding of and appreciation for esthetics, massage therapy, and hairstyling worlds a plus

For this salaried, nonexempt position, the compensation range is $24.04–$26.44 an hour.
The pay for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), and other law.
