Telluride Local Media Inc., publisher of the award-winning Telluride Daily Planet and The Watch, is seeking a full-time Associate Editor. Candidates must have excellent writing and editing skills, a strong work ethic and the ability to juggle multiple tasks. We are seeking a team player with a willingness to communicate effectively with colleagues and community members. The ideal candidate will be able to produce up to seven stories a week that are accurate, informative and timely. Besides reporting, responsibilities will include pulling wire stories, organizing content, copy editing and working with freelancers. You and other reporters will cover everything from local government meetings and politics, to outdoor recreation, sports and the environment. Many lively festivals and special events unfold in this beautiful mountain town and our newspapers cover them extensively.
Command of AP style is a must; average or better photography and social media skills are required; and at least three years newspaper management experience and a journalism degree are preferred. The Planet publishes Sundays, Wednesdays, Fridays, while the regional Watch publishes on Thursdays. Telluride Local Media also publishes several glossy magazines throughout the year that contain longer-form features.
