We work with leading philanthropic and nonprofit organizations in Colorado, and across the country. Our work spans progressive issue areas such as democracy, racial justice, economic security, immigrant rights, environmental sustainability, and health equity. 

Position Summary

The Associate will provide direct support to the Managing Director, helping manage client projects, conduct policy research, and develop strategic materials. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about advocacy and public policy, highly organized, and eager to contribute to meaningful social change. This position offers exposure to high-level strategy and policy development with leaders in the advocacy and philanthropic sectors. The Associate will work closely with our team and clients to support the execution of advocacy initiatives, training programs, and capacity-building projects.

The salary range for this position is $30,000-$40,000 per year (20 hours per week), commensurate with experience. Advocacy Rising also offers opportunities for a bonus through an annual review process and a benefits package for part-time employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation and implementation of client work plans, research reports, and presentation materials.
  • Support the coordination of meetings, convenings, and trainings, including scheduling and logistics.
  • Conduct policy research and analysis on legislative, regulatory, and political developments.
  • Track emerging policy trends, legislative updates, and news relevant to client priorities.
  • Develop written materials, including memos, reports, and advocacy toolkits.
  • Provide administrative and project management support, ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
  • Build relationships and coordinate with diverse stakeholders, including nonprofit leaders, policymakers, and funders.
  • Support the execution of large-scale advocacy events, workshops, and training programs.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in advocacy, public policy, government relations, campaigns, philanthropy, or nonprofit work.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex policy issues into clear, accessible content.
  • Experience in policy analysis, advocacy strategy, or coalition building preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive, with the ability to anticipate needs and solve problems.
  • Experience with training or large-group facilitation is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Canva, and project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello).
  • Passion for social justice, advocacy, and public policy.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
