Description

Position Purpose:
The Business Manager supports essential daily operations-related responsibilities including administration, financial sustainability, and core administrative functions for the organization. The Business Manager collaborates with the Producing Artistic Director and other staff members to identify and pursue opportunities that align with Curious Theatre Company's mission and values. Typical Work week is 9-5 M-F, with some flexibility and remote work possible. Must be flexible to attend some performances and events on evening or weekends.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
 

  • Developing and implementing operational and administrative systems
  • Contract lifecycle management
  • Managing office supplies and inventory
  • Organize office operations and procedures
  • Manage HR functions including new hires and employee onboarding.
  • Create budget drafts, and cash flows; review financial reports for treasurer as needed
  • Keep all budgetary, payroll, and other sensitive information confidential.
  • Interface and coordinate with bookkeeping and treasurer.
  • Assist with internal communications, meeting minutes, and other administrative recordkeeping
  • Produces reports from the Box Office system and fills in at Box Office as needed.
  • Implement data tracking systems to collect valuable information for use in writing grants, informing the public, and communicating successes.
  • Proofreads and comments on marketing materials, grants, and other materials to ensure consistency
  • Attends staff meetings, performances, and events as required, assists with front-of-house, backstage, and relationship building as needed. May facilitate post-show discussions or other events.
  • Engage in Curious Theatre's Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Access, and Belonging (EDIA+B) initiatives, focusing on antiracist practice, accessibility, and other areas to promote a more just and equitable organization.

  • You have a solid understanding of non-profit business administration, operations, and strategy
  • You are a beast at Excel, Word, Google Drive, and financial management. Working knowledge of Canva and CRM databases is a huge plus
  • You enjoy collaborating in coordinating, preparing, and producing deliverables that move the organization forward
  • You can predict the future. Kidding! But you’re able to intelligently forecast revenues and help drive growth
  • You’re a creative, proactive, and resourceful problem solver

To be considered, you’ll need:

  • An insatiable “yes, and” attitude focused on moving the organization forward
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience of 1 – 2 years’ work in non-profit and/or theatre. A degree in Arts or Arts Administration is a plus.
