Position Purpose

 This position provides support to the organization-wide communications and outreach effort, and has responsibility for communications activities, outreach events support, fundraising coordination and database management.

Areas of Responsibility

 Essential Duties

  • Supports the scheduling and staffing of community outreach events including occasional evening and weekend events.
  • Writes articles and content for RMHS external newsletters and other written pieces.
  • Supports fundraising efforts, including acknowledgement letters, mail and email appeals, and online giving.
  • Maintains and updates information on current website.
  • Maintains and updates information on RMHS intranet.
  • Creates and schedules posts on RMHS social media accounts. 
  • Maintains a central resource for brochures, supplies and other marketing collateral that RMHS employees use externally.
  • Uses extensive knowledge of software to communicate with vendors and negotiates for cost-effective services.  
  • Coordinates Raiser’s Edge database and uses database to track donations and grants, and to generate reports for solicitations, invoices, financial reports and mailing lists for newsletters and direct mail.
  • Establishes and maintains photo library and manages photo/story release files.
  • Keeps mailing lists updated.
  • Provides support for executive office events, including coordination of rooms, surveys and facilities support.
  • Supports the Program Manager in developing and maintaining electronic media resources.
  • Provides administrative support to the Communications & Outreach Department.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  •  Excellent presentation, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong fact-gathering and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of email communications and social media, i.e., Facebook, YouTube, Twitter.
  • Knowledge and skill in design software and applications.
  • Ability to establish priorities, coordinate multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field.
  • Minimum 1-3 years experience in marketing or communications, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • Familiarity with content management web systems, e.g., Drupal.
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop, and all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Non-profit organization experience in communications, events, development activities preferred
