Position Summary 

Hope House Colorado (HHC) is hiring a Communication Coordinator. As the Communication Coordinator, (hereafter CC) you will be responsible for supporting the execution of an organization-wide strategic marketing and communication plan. The CC works closely with the communication manager (CM) and marketing associate (MA) to help coordinate timely production of copy and design for all communication projects across the organization. Under the direction of the CM, the CC ensures an adherence to AP Style guidelines and Hope House brand guidelines in all communication materials, providing ample support to internal teams at Hope House Colorado in Arvada, Colorado and to staff at affiliate Hope House locations. The CC will bring a variety of skill sets to enhance the communication department, including but not limited to: strong writing, editing and design capabilities; creativity in social media management; public relations and public speaking experience; a high attention to detail; timeliness in assigned tasks; and a team-player mentality. The CC is part of the communication team within the larger development team, and would have additional duties assigned for annual fundraising events and small events throughout the year.  

What you’ll be doing 

Communication Support 

  • Support CM in writing and managing press releases and building rapport with the press 
  • Work with CM to train affiliates (Hope House locations in other cities) in the areas of communication, digital marketing and public relations 
  • Support CM in editing event materials, auction descriptions, etc. 
  • Interview and write teen mom stories and oversee organization of teen mom stories database 
  • Input email copy and photos into mass communication platform and adhere to communication calendar timeline for email marketing 
  • Promoting Hope House Colorado’s Core Values throughout the organization and external relationships 

Graphic Design & Digital Media 

  • Develop content (i.e. still posts, Reels, video clips), receive approvals from CM and post weekly digital communication for social media 
  • Interact and engage with partners and nonprofit organizations on digital platforms as appropriate 
  • Maintain a strong adherence to the Hope House Brand and Style Guides 
  • Assist with website updates on WordPress as needed  
  • Act as primary liaison with all print vendors, ensuring deadlines are met and invoices are paid on time 

We want to hear from you if  

  • You are available to work onsite at our Arvada location Monday-Friday, with one evening shift per week (Required) 
  • You are proficient in Adobe Suite and Canva (Required) 
  • You have a bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations or similar field (Desired) 
  • You are well-versed in AP Style writing and editing (Desired) 
  • You have experience working with WordPress (Desired) 
  • You have 2-3 years’ experience in a previous communication role (Desired)

Salary Range 

$46,000 – $54,000 per year   

Benefits 

Employees who are regularly scheduled to work 24 hours per week or more are eligible for the below benefits 

  • Health Benefits: Employees may elect medical, dental, vision & life insurance plans. 
  • Simple IRA: Employees may choose to make salary reduction contributions through HHC’s Simple IRA plan and HHC will match the employee’s contribution up to a maximum of 3% of the employee’s annual salary. 
  • Vacation: Upon hire, employees earn 6 hours of vacation per paycheck up to 120 hours (3 weeks) in a year. Accruals are adjusted to increase vacation earned per hours worked based on length of employment with HHC. 
  • Holidays: HHC observes eleven (11) holidays throughout the year. Salaried employees are paid for these holidays according to the nationally recognized observation day for each holiday. In addition, salaried employees are currently gifted either the week of Christmas or the week of New Year’s off, to be scheduled at the discretion of their supervisor. 
  • Sick Leave: HHC provides eligible employees with Paid Sick and Safe Leave (PSSL) and Public Health Emergency Leave (PHEL) in accordance with the requirements of Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA). 
  • Employer Based Childcare: Employer Based Childcare: Employees receive a 30% discount for their child(ren)’s child care tuition if they are enrolled in the Hope House Colorado Early Learning Center. 
  • Hope House Colorado is a qualifying employer for the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program! HHC provides employees with free assistance navigating the PSLF program to submit their federal student loans for forgiveness
