Center for Community Wealth Building (CCWB) promotes inclusive economic development by centering the talents and capacities of impacted and vulnerable Metro Denver residents, entrepreneurs, and workers, while leveraging the economic power of anchor institutions to create an economy that works for everyone.

Key Objective: Leverage communication tools and strategies to advance the community wealth building movement.

CCWB focuses on making an impact and delivering tangible results to help ignite people’s imaginations to see that an inclusive economy is possible. As CCWB grows, we seek to more intentionally elevate stories of our work’s impact and the successes of our community partners, and educate the broader public about barriers to economic equity to build momentum for necessary systemic and policy changes.

Areas of Responsibility

Communication Strategy Development & Implementation ~40% of the time

  • Develop and implement CCWB’s communication strategy in alignment with our vision and values
  • Manage organization-wide communications and event calendar that reflects and supports program calendars
  • Manage, track, and evaluate communications strategies
  • Support programmatic communications needs by, for example, drafting blogs, messaging strategies, and program case statements, creating marketing materials for training programs, and capturing and disseminating stories of impact
  • Support CCWB (and co-sponsored) events with photography, copy writing, and graphic design services
  • Manage and develop the communications budget
  • Support the communications needs of the ShopBIPOC.com collaborative
  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Director of Community and Resource Development to support fundraising, including individual donor and sponsorship campaigns, online fundraising, etc.

Create Collateral Materials and Publications ~30% of the time

  • Develop outreach and promotional materials (e.g., brochures, fact sheets, case statements, flyers, donor communications)
  • Develop communications templates and materials to use in outreach and storytelling
  • Oversee production of published assets to communicate organizational strategy and impact, including annual report, executive summaries, program and organizational newsletters, and research reports
  • Oversee the development of original graphics
  • Ensure consistent messaging and branding, including by, for example, reviewing all online and printed publications developed by program staff
  • Develop and manage media library, including photos and videos for use on website and in publications, and all brand assets

Digital Presence Management ~15% of the time

  • Maintain website content
  • Oversee creation and implementation of social media strategies, including development of regular posts on key CCWB social media channels
  • Manage organizational contacts through CRM platform

Additional responsibilities to advance organizational goals in alignment with CCWB’s worker-led structure ~15% of the time
 

What We’re Looking For

  • A deep understanding of and commitment to racial and economic justice.
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in communications for justice-oriented non-profit organizations, public relations, digital organizing, or some combination. Eagerness to learn, meet people where they are, and seek creative solutions to communication challenges.
  • Love for diving into the details and achieving outcomes, leading to polished results that reflect well on the organization.
  • Ability to see the system, and understanding of how community wealth building and asset-based methodologies are responses to systems of oppression, perhaps through experience with grassroots community organizing or labor organizing for social change.
  • Expertise in communicating and translating information, and delight in working with people from diverse classes, racial, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds, practicing empathy and respect. Bilingual or multilingual skills (ideally Spanish, Amharic, Vietnamese, Arabic, or Somali) that help connect with and tell the stories of the Denver region’s entrepreneurs and small business partners. Confidence as a communicator in one-on-one, group, and large presentation settings. Experience drafting social media posts.
  • Commitment to outcomes, and capacity to complete multiple projects that sometimes have competing deadlines. Ability to recognize when an approach or tool is not working and to learn and adapt on the fly.
  • Excitement at practicing horizontal management with our team. Eagerness to step in proactively to improve and influence the workplace. Commitment to co-creation and to growing and helping others grow through collaboration, kind feedback, vulnerability, and gratitude. 

Job Requirements
 

  • Willingness to work occasional irregular hours, including nights/weekends
  • Willingness to provide and receive constructive feedback
  • Experience with Webflow or willingness to learn this website platform
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other design, photo editing, and video editing software, or willingness to learn these platforms
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Gmail, and Google Suite.
  • Reliable transportation (transportation expenses reimbursed based on mileage records)
     

Benefits

Compensation: Competitive compensation ranging from $65,000-72,000 for this role, depending on experience. (We practice open accounting and participatory budgeting at CCWB, which means that all team members have access to salary information and program expenses, and work together to create the annual budget.)

Benefits:

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance, including plans that are 100% employer-paid. For employees who elect a High Deductible Health Plan, CCWB contributes at least $1,200 per year toward a Health Savings Account.
  • After a one-year vesting period, elibility to participate in CCWB’s 401(k) retirement savings plan, in which CCWB matches the first 3% of employees' 401(k) contributions and half of the next 2%, for up to a 4% match.
  • Reimbursement of cell phone expenses up to $60 per month.
  • Flexible Officing: This position is based in Denver. CCWB staff are expected to work in our shared office in the Five Points neighborhood one day a week. Starting in spring 2026, this is likely to shift to 3 days per week.
  • Holidays & Vacation Time: All employees are paid for 10 holidays per year, as well as the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day when CCWB is closed. In addition, full-time employees earn 1 vacation day per month as a new employee (12 days/year), 1.25 days per month (15 days/year) after one year, and 1.67 days per month (20 days/year) after four years. Employees have the option of rolling over up to 5 vacation days per year.
  • Sick Time: Employees earn 6.67 hours per month (80 hours per year) for absences due to personal sickness, medical appointments, sickness or medical appointments of immediate family members, bereavement and grief related to the loss of a loved one, or personal emergencies.
  • Family Leave: CCWB participates in Colorado’s FAMLI leave program, which provides up to twelve weeks of leave for the care of a partner, child, spouse, or qualified family member. Part-time employment during the period of Family Leave is permitted if the role and responsibilities allow.
