As a Communications Representative – Level 4 you'll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. The preferred location for this role is McLean, VA. May consider one of the following major Space sector locations: Redondo Beach, CA; Linthicum, MD; Chandler, AZ; or Aurora, CO.
This individual will lead thought leadership strategy, narrative development, and connected storytelling for the Space business to advance our brand and reputation as a leader in Space. You will partner with communications and functional colleagues on the development of high-visibility business messaging and related materials, project management and execution of strategic engagements, and shaping the sector’s external presence. Experience in editorial strategy and execution is required, in addition to external communications, research, and editing expertise.
In this job, you will:
- Support the development and implementation of Space Sector’s communication strategy, including narrative material and storytelling assets, business focus area special projects, and connected storytelling.
- Leverage strong business acumen and research skills to identify narrative gaps and opportunities, develop compelling content about sector priorities and capabilities for a wide range of audiences
- Oversee priority focus area communications plans and advise on sector integrated communications plans, coaching colleagues on best practices and omnichannel approach.
- Serve as a strategic advisor and editor for sector-wide thought leadership, including setting strategy for sector external presence, pitching and leading new initiatives based on relevant market trends, and ensuring alignment of all activities to business narratives.
- Partner cross-functionally with peers and business partners to ensure seamless communication efforts that drive employee engagement and business alignment.
- Support execution of integrated marketing and tradeshow strategies.
- Partner with sector and enterprise teams to track and report on communications performance against defined objectives.

- Have strong copywriting and editing skills and are familiar with Associated Press Stylebook guidelines.
- Are positive, poised and approachable, able to work independently and in partnership with senior executives/employees, and confident in offering communications counsel to business partners.
- Thrive in fast-paced, action-oriented environments and can juggle multiple projects simultaneously, reprioritize quickly and meet deadlines.
- Have a demonstrated understanding of communications and global topics, priorities and trends.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 6 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 4 years of professional experience
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
- Proven track record of communications and editorial strategy development and execution, including in developing KPIs and objectives, and measuring impact with data
- Expertise in external and executive communications, including strong writing and editing skills, executive presence, judgement, and agility
- Proven ability to understand complex business portfolios and market realities, develop storytelling strategy accordingly, and create messaging/content for a wide range of audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Aerospace and defense industry experience, and familiarity with DoD and global government customers
- Active DoD security clearance
- Familiarity with Associated Press Stylebook guidelines

Northrop Grumman Total Rewards
Primary Level Salary Range: $101,400.00 – $176,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
