What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The expected salary range for this position is $68,000.00 – $88,000.00. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location 

In this position you will work on site at 200 W. 14th Ave, Suite 100, Denver, CO 80204. Office hours are 9:00AM – 5:00PM, in-person three (3) days a week and remote two (2) days a week during the off season; flexible schedule options are available with supervisor approval. Some evening and weekend work is required. During the election season the employee will work mostly in-person from 9:00AM – 5:00PM. During the election season the employee schedule may increase in person to meet community engagement goals.

Who We Are

The Office of the Clerk and Recorder’s (OCR) vision is a Denver where everyone can fully participate in the democratic process and civic life, marry whom they love, easily record and access county and municipal records, and rely on transparent and fair foreclosure processes. OCR serves Denverites through three divisions: Records and Public Trustee, Elections, and Administration, and is involved in state and local law and rulemaking for all the functions under its purview. Through these functions, OCR contributes to some of the most important aspects of Denverite’s lives: getting married, owning property, and participating in the democratic process.

The Division's

The Elections Division is responsible for conducting federal, state, city and county of Denver, and district elections that are fair, accurate, accessible, and transparent. The division is also charged with maintaining accurate voter registration and election records. The Records and Public Trustee Division is comprised of the Recordings and Marriages, Public Trustee, and City Clerk Departments.

The Administration Division is comprised of Communications and Marketing, Community Engagement, Finance, Technology, Legal and Regulatory Compliance, as well as the Office of the Deputy Clerk and Recorder. The Community Engagement Associate is one of three full-time staff in the Community Engagement division and reports to the Senior Strategic Advisor.

Join our team of dedicated public servants in supporting residents across a variety of critical city and county functions. This role will support the following key areas of work:

  • Community Engagement Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation/Reporting
  • Attendance at Community Outreach Events
  • Identifying and Managing Community Partnerships
  • Program and Curriculum Development

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with community partners, including nonprofit organizations, schools and universities, community groups and leaders, city agencies and employees, and elected officials
  • Attend and support community outreach events that advance OCR’s mission; this includes staffing agency tables and booths to distribute information, answer questions, and register people to vote; developing and delivering external presentations on various topics; attending community meetings and planning sessions; and staffing Clerk López for official functions and speaking engagements
  • Partner with the community engagement team to plan and deliver election-specific events such as townhalls, candidate forums, ballot parties, and other get out the vote initiatives
  • Collaborate with OCR staff to identify the community engagement needs of various departments/divisions and opportunities for collaboration; contribute to the development of corresponding action plans
  • Coordinate civic education and voter registration programming for young people ages 15-25 (high school and college); administer OCR’s High School Deputy Registrar Program
  • Support OCR’s advisory committees (Acceso Spanish-Language Advisory Board and Election Advisory Commission); serve as the OCR liaison on the Auraria Voter Engagement Committee
  • Work in partnership with the Senior Strategic Advisor to identify grant opportunities that advance OCR’s mission; explore the opportunity for a community grant program
  • Support the tracking and documentation of community engagement activities and assist with measuring and evaluating the division’s outputs and outcomes
  • Advise management on how departmental direction, policy actions, and communications may be perceived by the public and recommend strategies for improvement
  • Contribute to the development of an annual community engagement work plan and corresponding goal

What You’ll Bring

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Experience in community engagement

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years’ experience performing full performance professional level duties within a specialized, functional area. (This does not include clerical experience.)
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
  • License/Certifications: Must obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) clearance within the probationary period.
