Location: Sie FilmCenter – 2510 E. Colfax Ave., Denver, CO 80206, and occasional remote work

Reporting Structure: Reports to Chief Administrative Officer 

Currently, Denver Film requires all staff be vaccinated for COVID-19 and is also requiring everyone in its building(s) to wear masks. “Vaccinated” means fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as defined by the CDC (i.e., more than 14 calendar days following receipt of a final dose of an FDA or World Health Organization authorized or approved vaccine). Denver Film will engage in an interactive process to determine if a reasonable accommodation is available for those who cannot be vaccinated due to a disability or sincerely held religious belief. 


Denver Film seeks a COVID Safety Officer to develop and oversee the implementation of the COVID-19 safety protocol for the Denver Film Festival (DFF), the largest premier film event in the Rocky Mountain region that happens across multiple venues over 12 days filled with films, red carpet events, panels, curated virtual reality (VR) and immersive experiences, and special events. The COVID Safety Officer plays a vital role in protecting the well-being of DFF staff, attendees, and special guests.

About Denver Film:

The first Denver International Film Festival was successfully launched in May 1978. Three years later, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Denver Film Society was created to expand opportunities to bring films to Denver that otherwise might not be shown, and to celebrate and cultivate film as an art form. Over the years the organization has grown into one the largest and most respected cultural institutions in the Rocky Mountain region. In 2019, the organization rebranded to Denver Film in an effort to build a more inclusive organization. What You’ll Do:

The COVID Safety Officer will coordinate the planning, development, and implementation of COVID-19 safety precautions for the festival. This individual will work closely with the Chief Administrative Officer, the DFF Production Manager, and other key staff to make appropriate updates to the DFF COVID-19 protocol based on the latest information and mandates.

Responsibilities include:

COVID Safety

Develop a timeline for key decisions and activities related to COVID-19 safety precautions

Maintain and update as necessary the public-facing DFF COVID-19 protocol, and ensure proper dissemination to internal and external stakeholders

Prepare a detailed, internal COVID-19 safety plan, incorporating input from key staff and outlining the logistics required for effective implementation 

Maintain an awareness of evolving concerns and resources related to COVID-19 and provide guidance on current best practices for mitigating risk

Create relevant training resources and provide safety training to DFF staff and volunteers

Oversee the implementation of the COVID-19 safety plan across multiple venues and for the duration of the festival

Exhibit confidence and kindness while enforcing all established safety procedures

Write and deliver a comprehensive wrap report following the conclusion of the festival


Work cooperatively with all appropriate DFF departments and the leadership team at Denver Film to ensure the lines of communication are open, needs are clear, and plans are set

Who You Are:

The ideal candidate will have previous experience with COVID-19 safety procedures and compliance and will possess a relevant certification or be willing to complete training. This individual will excel at both written and verbal communication and will exercise good judgment in handling sensitive information and making recommendations to protect the well-being of others. The ability to train and motivate others is an important asset for this position. The COVID Safety Officer must be able to pivot quickly based on evolving information and circumstances.
