Job purpose
Under the direction of the Director of Facilities Management, this position is will oversee and lead 6-10 departmental staff members in daily cleaning of multiple theaters, office space and a state-of-the-art ballroom at the DCPA’s complex. Through mentoring, training, communication and strong leadership of staff members, this position will be responsible for a high-quality standard of cleaning and service of DCPA facilities. This position will be responsible for creating and closing out work assignments through an automated CMMS system, tracking supplies and hours for the custodial department. This position will create and maintain cleaning procedures, deep cleaning and work schedules. This position will also assist in daily cleaning of the facilities. This position is expected to perform weekly quality assurance inspections. This position will ensure staff is adhering to company policies as described in the company handbook and adhering to all related occupational safety protocols. This position occasionally requires after-hours and weekend work.
Duties and responsibilities
• Oversee the daily operations of custodial staff including hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating performance.
• Verify proper staff input of hours and submit payroll though ADP system.
• Create monthly work schedules that encompass the needs of theatre productions, shows and events.
• Ensure staffing schedules are created to cover all theater and private events while keeping overtime to a minimum.
• Collaborate with the Director of Facilities to develop department budgets and plans for growth or change within the department.
• Following budget guidelines, ensure cleaning supplies, and paper products are ordered and stocked.
• Collaborate with other departmental managers on specific cleaning needs of those departments.
• Ensure staff members trained and comply with safety regulations, such as wearing appropriate PPE, SDS and hazardous material handling.
• Create training sessions and ensure staff members are following occupational safety protocols.
• Maintain interdepartmental records and supply metrics.
• Ensure all cleaning equipment is well maintained.
• Ensure proper chemicals and procedures are used for cleaning.
• Create and oversee deep cleaning or other tasks for The Newman and the Bonfils building during times when there are no theatre productions, shows or events.
• Create cleaning standards, procedures, and check lists for cleaning operations.
• Train staff members of the organization’s cleaning procedures and standards.
• Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
• Assist in monitoring labor and supply budgets. Communicate to Director of Facilities when increased labor/supplies are needed.
• Lead all daily cleaning of the facilities.
• Assist in private events as needed, this can include setting and striking tables and chairs as needed.
• Attend operational meetings.
• Provide necessary information to Director of Facilities and HR when employee performance related actions or discipline is required.
• Create procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Ensure staff members are following building security and safety protocols. Ensure staff members are securing areas that have been cleaned.
• Notify Director of Facilities concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Maintain custodial equipment in a clean, safe, and operable condition.
• Maintain vending closets and all custodial equipment in a clean, organized, and safe manner.
• Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.
• Assist with cleaning.
• Assist with all grounds keeping (trash removal)
• Other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous management experience required.
• 5-10 years’ experience in managing a cleaning department in large dynamic facility.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to train and motivate custodial staff.
• Strong proficiency with Computer skills in Microsoft suite, Prior CMMS and ADP experience preferred.
• Experience in best practices in cleaning to increase the life of carpet, floors, walls, furniture.
• Previous event experience is preferred.
• English / Spanish bilingual speaking proficiency required, written proficiency preferred.
• Valid Colorado Driver’s License required.
• Minimum 18 years of age
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
Working conditions
• The work is performed in 350,000 square foot buildings including Newman, theaters, lobbies, restrooms, offices, and dressing rooms, green rooms, loading docks, with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities.
• Occasional visits to Brooks tower
• Adhering to all safety requirements
• May be exposed to fumes and or airborne particles.
• May be exposed to heights up to 50 feet.
• Working hours may vary depending upon productions, events and shows.
Physical requirements
• The work requires routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing less than fifty pounds. Moving items over fifty pounds utilizes a team lift.
• May need to work in aerial lifts at height up to 50 feet.
• May be asked to work late and weekend hours.
• Hearing – to converse with others in a normal conversation.
• Balancing, bending, climbing, kneeling, walking, pushing, reaching above shoulders, and sitting.

Compensation
$75,000 – $82,000
