Position Summary

Our Desktop Systems Engineering team manages the development, operation, and maintenance of enterprise client computing technologies deployed within MSU Denver, including System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Intune, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, and Jamf Pro.

Reporting to the Desktop Systems Engineering Manager, you will join two other Systems Engineers focusing on architecting and engineering future solutions to refine and enhance support and services of our client computing environment used by all students, faculty, and staff of MSU Denver. You will be focused on provisioning and managing Apple devices through Jamf Pro and administrating the Citrix environment. You will be at home in this position if you are optimistic, creative, and motivated on developing and automating solutions that apply to the masses. Duties/Responsibilities

Systems Administration
Your primary responsibility will be the successful implementation of Systems Administration tasks. Main tasks will consist of administering a Jamf Pro instance and developing configurations to provision Apple devices. You will also package and deploy software through Jamf for both mobile devices and computers, and keep accurate documentation for these activities. You’ll need to write and deploy scripts to handle workstation configurations using languages including batch, shell, and Python. You will also help manage and troubleshoot an existing Citrix environment that hosts virtualized applications for student and faculty use.
Escalated Technical Support Delivery
You will also handle Tier 3 escalation for Mac issues and some Windows when needed. Using our service request software, you’ll update incidents and service requests, while helping our Tier 1 and 2 technicians with a range of complex technical issues and performing root cause analysis.
Research and Development
You will perform in-depth research on technical solutions to existing problems, analyze requirements presented by users or peers, and propose practical solutions. You’ll complete comprehensive testing scenarios for candidate technologies. Finally, you’ll provide recommendations to senior ITS leadership on viability of candidate solutions.
Project Management
You’ll gather structured requirements and analysis to provide design and architectural recommendations. You’ll develop project plans and implement pieces that pertain to your responsibilities. You’ll prioritize efforts, update tickets with relevant activities, and prepare regular project status updates for an executive-level audience.
Other Tasks as Assigned
At the discretion of the Desktop Systems Engineering Manager, you will perform additional tasks and special projects as assigned. Occasional after-hours or on-call work may be required. While infrequent, you may be periodically asked to travel for conferences or training opportunities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university *
• 3+ years Mac technical support experience
• Experience using, troubleshooting, and supporting macOS 10.13 through 11.0

[*] Candidates who have not attained a four-year degree may substitute eight years of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years Mac technical support experience
• Experience working in an information technology environment in a higher education setting
• Experience using and supporting Jamf Pro in a corporate or education environment
• Experience using one or more of the following scripting languages: batch, shell, Python or other relevant programming language such as C, C#, Java, or Ruby
• Experience in packaging and deploying of operating system, software applications, and application configurations
• Experience using Citrix Virtual Apps or Desktops
