Summary

The Development and Event Manager will advance the fundraising goals of the National Repertory Orchestra (NRO). Working closely with the Director of Development, this role supports donor relations, fundraising campaigns, event planning and execution, and data analytics to strengthen the organization’s impact, support the mission, and create long-term sustainability.

Position Overview 

The Development and Event Manager will advance the fundraising goals of the National Repertory Orchestra (NRO). Working closely with the Director of Development, this role supports donor relations, fundraising campaigns, event planning and execution, and data analytics to strengthen the organization’s impact, support the mission, and create long-term sustainability. 

Reporting Relationships 

The Development and Event Manager reports to the Director of Development and is part of the year-round team. They will work closely with the senior management team as well as the CEO. 

 

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Donor Engagement 

  • Support all aspects of the NRO’s fundraising strategy. 
  • Assist with grant writing; prepare tax acknowledgment letters, stewardship reports, and donor recognition. 
  • Draft donor communications, including appeal letters and targeted campaigns. 
  • Manage donor benefit communications and fulfillment while helping strengthen the donor pipeline. 

Event Management  

  • Assist with planning of donor receptions, home concerts, community engagement activities, and fundraising events. 
  • Execute donor receptions, home concerts, community engagement activities, and fundraising events. 
  • Develop and track event timelines, task lists, and volunteer needs. 
  • Coordinate event logistics, including invitations, RSVPs, setup, catering, and guest experience. 
  • Partner with the marketing team to promote events and ensure consistent branding. 

Data Management & Analytics 

  • Maintain accurate donor and prospect records in CRM systems; proficiency in DonorPerfect is a plus. 
  • Track and analyze giving trends, event outcomes, and campaign performance to inform strategy. 
  • Generate reports and dashboards for leadership and board use. 
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance with donor privacy standards. 

Cross-Departmental Support 

  • Collaborate with marketing on donor-related content such as the annual Impact Report and newsletters. 
  • Assist with audience engagement, concert hospitality, and donor experiences. 
  • Provide support for community engagement and education initiatives as needed. 
  • Attend concerts, rehearsals, outreach programs, and staff meetings as a visible ambassador for the NRO. 

Qualifications

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines. 
  • Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills with donors, volunteers, and staff. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Google Workspace, CRM systems; proficiency in DonorPerfect is

    a plus.

  • Proficiency with data analysis and reporting. 
  • Knowledge of classical music and/or nonprofit arts administration is a plus. 
  • Collaborative team player with a passion for the arts, fundraising, and events. 
  • Alignment with the mission and values of the National Repertory Orchestra. 
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

The NRO is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to inspiring the next generation of classical musicians through transformative education and performance. Based in beautiful Breckenridge, Colorado, the NRO’s prestigious, tuition-free Summer Music Festival brings together 80 exceptional musicians to perform more repertoire than any other festival of its kind. Under the leadership of Music Director Michael Stern and world-renowned guest conductors, the NRO presents up to 18 concerts and 85 free community events each season. 

For over 60 years, the NRO has prepared musicians for successful professional careers, fostering leadership and connection through music. Our alumni now perform in major orchestras and serve as influential voices across the arts.

Benefits

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: Commensurate with experience and performance; approximately $50,000-$70,000/year. 
  • Bonus: Year-end merit-based bonus structure. 
  • Health Insurance: 100% paid premium for single coverage; 70% paid premium for employee with family members and dependents (employee covers 30%). 
  • Retirement: Up to 3% match Simple IRA contribution. 
  • PTO: Unlimited Time Off. 
  • Breckenridge North parking pass provided.
