JOB DESCRIPTION
CTLA is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Development Director to oversee critical aspects of our fundraising and membership programs. This role is ideal for a motivated individual who excels at relationship-building, database management, event coordination, and strategic planning.
Fundraising
- Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising plans for the association’s EAGLE and 7th Amendment Advocate programs.
- Track and maintain payment, pledge, delinquency, and renewal data to ensure accurate and up-to-date fundraising records.
- Prepare and send acknowledgment and thank-you correspondence for donors.
- Produce monthly reports detailing EAGLE program data and financials.
- Develop and maintain detailed lists of EAGLE donors and prospective donors.
- Cultivate relationships with members to recruit and retain donors.
- Ensure donor recognition through CTLA communications, website, events, and publications.
- Educate prospects about donor benefits and recognition opportunities.
- Assist with independent political fundraising events hosted by members.
- Complete compliance reports for the CTLA Small Donor Committee in advance of deadlines.
Membership
- Design and implement a strategic membership plan to grow and retain members.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all membership inquiries.
- Process new membership applications, update member information, and manage daily transactions, including dues payments and account updates.
- Maintain accurate credit card information for automatic renewals and manage membership renewals per the established communication schedule.
- Attach signed membership and listserv agreements to member accounts in the TrialSmith database.
- Organize and manage membership phone-a-thons.
- Solicit and manage firms participating in the 14ers Circle, including administering benefits.
- Coordinate activities of EAGLE, Membership, New Lawyers Division, Women’s Trial Lawyer Network, and Legal Staff committees.
- Plan and execute new lawyer and paralegal boot camps and related events in collaboration with committees.
- Work with law schools to recruit student members.
- Liaise with TrialSmith to resolve database issues and implement improvements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- A bachelor’s degree.
- At least three years of experience in fundraising, membership management, or related fields.
- Exceptional organizational and database management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to build relationships with members and donors.
- Experience coordinating events and managing committees.
- Familiarity with compliance reporting and financial tracking.
- Ability to work remotely and independently while understanding the necessity to coordinate efforts with other employees.
- Ability to make independent decisions, addressing the best way to handle specific tasks.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse personalities.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with legal associations or membership-based organizations.
- Experience with political fundraising strategies, including donor cultivation.
- Familiarity with advocacy and lobbying efforts.
- Ability to analyze and communicate the impact of legislative changes on organizational goals and stakeholders.
COMPENSATION
- $90,00 to $100,000 based on experience.
