Summary

This position will work closely with a report to the Chief Executive Officer. TheDirector of Development will design and execute a comprehensive developmentstrategy for CSPC. The Director of Development will oversee and execute on businessdevelopment campaigns and ongoing fundraising efforts.

Founded in
2000, The Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition’s mission is to build power and
support a movement in marginalized communities of families and childcare providers
to change systems, build leaders, and train families and providers to be the
strongest and best advocates for their children to succeed in school and
beyond.  

We do this by providing direct training to parents and friend, family, and neighbor
childcare providers and parents. Working with educational institutions to
support family engagement and creating systemic change through the leadership
of our directly impacted community. As a community driven organization, it is
our goal to remain nimble and responsive to the needs of the communities we
serve through our programming.  

The Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition has an annual operating budget between $2.9
and 3.5 million. This revenue comes from multiple sources including governments
grants, private philanthropy, individual donors, fee for service, and program
fees. We are seeking a development director who will successfully raise the
funds needed to fully execute CSPC goals each year, develop and execute innovative
revenue generating plans, and support the business development of CSPC through
social enterprises.  

This position will work closely with a report to the Chief Executive Officer. The
Director of Development will design and execute a comprehensive development
strategy for CSPC. The Director of Development will oversee and execute on business
development campaigns and ongoing fundraising efforts.  

Responsibilities
 

· Design
development strategy for CSPC: Work with the Leadership team to identify funds
needed, preferred funding targets, sources and approaches.  

· Develop
and manage the CSPC grants and contracts calendar including proposal and report,
and spend-down deadlines. 

· Fundraising:
Conduct research, prospecting, develop applications to multiple donor sources 

· Work
with other departments to develop business revenue through creative social enterprise
models 

· Oversee
ongoing development efforts  

· Plan
CSPC’s two annual events, the Partners in Education Gala, and the Telethon. 

· Secure
business and corporate sponsors for events and programs 

· Build
a robust donor base: Develop and maintain key long-term relationships with
donors and prospects  

· Communicate
progress on fundraising goals to the CEO and the finance department 

· Work
closely with the grants and payroll manager to track revenue 

Qualifications
 

· Must
be able to communicate effectively in English and Spanish 

· At
least 5 years of successful experience as a development director for a mid-size
non-profit with a budget of at least $2mil.  

· Strong
organizational skills 

· Strong
writing and communication skills.  

· Deep
understanding of nonprofit sustainability, business development, and social
enterprise 

· Strong
track record in identifying and cultivating new major donors 

· Project
Leadership: Experience in planning, leading, and managing development projects,
including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and
reporting on progress to the CEO  

· Entrepreneurial
Spirit: Takes initiative and actively seeks to deepen current donor
relationships and to forge new ones  

· Communications:
Skilled in creating powerful, compelling written and oral communications for
fundraising. Ability to convey complex ideas through brief, simple materials.
