Position Title: Development Manager

Location: Arvada, Colorado

Reports To: President

Position Type: Full-time

Salary:  $34.00 – $36.00  per hour, commensurate with experience, and health insurance stipend

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising Strategy & Development

  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies aligned with organizational goals and long-term financial sustainability. 

  • Collaborate with leadership to identify growth opportunities and diversify revenue streams. 

  • Plan and execute revenue-generating campaigns, including Colorado Gives Day, community-driven initiatives, and corporate sponsorship events. 

  • Track performance metrics and revenue outcomes to optimize efforts and support data-informed decision-making.

Individual & Small Donor Development

  • Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors through impact-driven storytelling, outreach, meetings, and events. 

  • Plan and execute multi-channel fundraising appeals across email, direct mail, and social media. 

  • Develop recurring giving programs including small donor campaign strategies to build long-term donor loyalty. 

Corporate & Institutional Partnerships

  • Research, identify, and cultivate corporate sponsors and partners to support the Justice Necessary mission. 

  • Develop tiered sponsorship packages with clear benefits and recognition. 

  • Secure and steward corporate contributions, including sponsorships, grants, in-kind donations, and employee giving programs.. 

  • Engage partners through event and campaign sponsorships, workplace giving, in-kind support, and, in collaboration with the Volunteer Coordinator.

Grant Writing & Management

  • Research and identify grant opportunities aligned with the Justice Necessary mission and programs. 

  • Write compelling letters of inquiry, proposals, and reports that clearly communicate impact and funding needs. 

  • Manage a grant calendar to ensure timely submissions and reporting. 

  • Support budget development and ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting, including proper management of restricted and unrestricted funds. 

Financial Oversight & Fund Tracking

  • Monitor and track fundraising revenue and allocations for accuracy and transparency. 

  • Manage donor portfolios in the CRM, including personalized acknowledgements and follow-ups, tracking, and engagement history.

  • Support financial planning aligned with development goals. 

  • Ensure proper management of restricted and unrestricted funds. 

  • Collaborate with leadership on financial reporting and budget alignment to support informed decision-making.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, grant writing, or administrative/operations roles (nonprofit experience preferred)

  • Proven success in securing corporate partnerships, cultivating individual donors, and grant writing.

  • Experience tracking fundraising goals and development event budgets.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, deadlines, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality

  • Experience managing CRM systems and donor databases

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, scheduling tools, project management platforms (e.g., Asana preferred), and virtual meeting tools

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Relationship-driven with strong donor stewardship and interpersonal skills; professional and approachable demeanor

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work cross-functionally with teams

  • Passion for Justice Necessary mission and commitment to community impact

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Office-based 

  • This role requires consistent and reliable transportation to travel to community and donor locations, and program sites.

  • Occasional lifting of supplies (up to 25 lbs)

  • May require occasional evening, weekend, or event support
