Salary Range: $60,000 – $65,000

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Chief Marketing Officer. Supervises the Grants Coordinator and Membership Coordinator.

Position Summary: 

Denver Film is seeking a passionate, full-time Development Manager with proven fundraising capabilities and a demonstrated ability to maintain and build upon membership and individual giving programs. This position will play a key role in a fast-paced and forward-looking team dedicated to advancing Denver Film’s work, mission and brand. 

About Denver Film:

The first Denver International Film Festival was successfully launched in May 1978. Three years later, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Denver Film Society was created to expand opportunities to bring films to Denver that otherwise might not be shown and to celebrate and cultivate film as an art form.  Over the years the organization has grown into one the largest and most respected cultural institutions in the Rocky Mountain region. In 2019, the organization rebranded to Denver Film in an effort to build a more inclusive organization.

This effort continues as we focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility across our wide array of year-round programs including the Colorado Dragon Boat Film Festival, Women+Film Festival, CinemaQ Film Festival, CineLatinx Film Festival, Film on the Rocks, and the Denver Film Festival. Denver Film operates the Sie FilmCenter, which is the year-round cinematic home hosting over 800 films, education programs, community conversations, filmmakers from around the world, and special events throughout the year.

What You’ll Do:

Individual Giving & Membership

Strengthen a growing major gifts program

Cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors

Identify donor/member-specific interests in Denver Film programs

Maintain timely donor/member records in our CRM system

Coordinate annual giving campaigns and membership drives

Oversee fulfillment of Membership benefits

Formalize membership and donor communication strategies

Timely execution of donor acknowledgments at all giving-levels

Manage Board Giving

Work with partnership team to determine new donor assets

Create membership engagement opportunities and events

Build out prospecting strategy

Coordinate with marketing and fulfillment teams on membership/donor assets


Work with the Chief Marketing Officer along with the Grants Coordinator to build out an annual grant strategy

Oversee Grant writing calendar and applications

Formalize Grant reporting structure

Build relationships with Foundations and Grant-makers

Manage current grant-making opportunities

Develop new grant-making opportunities

Manage Fiscal Sponsorship Program


Report on the progress of development initiatives to staff and board

Attend Denver Film events (some evenings and weekends required)

Maintain involvement with external organizations and professional groups

Other duties and special projects

Oversee creation of Annual Report

Who You Are:

The ideal candidate will be an ambitious self-starter who is able to build strong relationships both internally and externally. You have the ability to strategize in order to create well-thought-out membership engagement opportunities and developing long-term strategies to build stronger relationships with donors, members and the community. You are a team player with the ability and willingness to work closely with the programming team to understand opportunities for donors and members to become more involved in the areas they love.

You will need to have strong communication skills and need to maintain good relationships with all colleagues and external contacts – cross-collaboration will be a key factor in building programs and engaging donors/members. You will be well versed in all programmatic areas of Denver Film and have the ability to raise the bar on our development efforts across the organization.

To be successful, you will create engaging messaging and relevant content to our members.  Basic knowledge and comfort with software programs are important as you will be helping to implement and launch HubSpot as our new CRM/Marketing Platform, as well as utilizing Slack, Basecamp, and Dropbox for internal communications, project management, and file management. Experience with wealth screening and donor identification platforms such as DonorSearch is a plus!

Personal organization and close attention to detail are mandatory. A passion for film and Denver Film programs is a great starting point to getting others exciting about the organization and its long-term trajectory.
