Girls on the Run of the Rockies is seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven Development & Marketing Director to lead fundraising, marketing, and community engagement efforts that ensure the long-term growth and sustainability of our organization.
Reporting to the Executive Director, this leadership position is responsible for increasing philanthropic support, strengthening brand awareness, and advancing our commitment to making Girls on the Run accessible to ALL girls. The Development & Marketing Director oversees the Events & Marketing Manager and Marketing Coordinator, ensuring our fundraising and marketing strategies inspire our community to invest in, advocate for, and participate in our mission.
Roles & Responsibilities
Individual Giving
- Develop and execute a comprehensive annual individual giving strategy, including annual giving, monthly giving, peer-to-peer fundraising, and donor stewardship.
- Build and cultivate meaningful relationships with current and prospective donors to inspire long-term investment in our mission.
- Lead organization-wide fundraising campaigns, including Youth Sports Giving Day (September) and Colorado Gives Day (December).
- Partner with the Program Team to identify coaches, volunteers, and families with philanthropic interest and capacity.
- Maintain accurate donor records and reporting within Virtuous CRM.
- Provide detailed donor analytics to drive informed strategic approach to donor cultivation and stewardship.
Corporate/Community Partnerships
- Develop and execute an annual corporate giving strategy that includes long-term partnerships, sponsorships, and employee engagement opportunities.
- Cultivate relationships with corporate partners and employee resource groups to increase volunteerism, sponsorship, and financial support.
- Create sponsorship materials and partnership opportunities for initiatives such as the Fall 5K Series, Sponsor a Team, and year-round partnerships.
- Oversee community-led fundraising initiatives and ensure successful coordination with the Events & Marketing team.
- Manage sponsor fulfillment and ensure all partnership benefits are delivered before, during, and after events.
- Identify and create meaningful partnerships with like-minded community partners.
Marketing & Brand Awareness
- Position Girls on the Run of the Rockies as a leader in youth development by highlighting our evidence-based curriculum, social-emotional learning, and physical activity programming through a cohesive marketing campaign aligned with the organization’s strategic plan and annual goals.
- Oversee development of all organizational communications, ensuring consistency in brand voice and messaging across print, digital, and media platforms.
- Oversee media relations, public relations, and community engagement efforts.
- Oversee website strategy, digital marketing, social media, and audience engagement.
- Establish marketing metrics and evaluate campaign performance to drive continuous improvement.
- Increase awareness of the organization’s unique impact and strengthen brand recognition.
- Identify emerging opportunities to elevate the organization’s visibility and reputation.
Board Engagement
- Attend Board meetings and provide updates on fundraising and marketing initiatives.
- Partner with Board members to strengthen fundraising efforts, cultivate prospective supporters, and increase Board engagement in development activities.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Oversee the Events & Marketing Manager and Marketing Coordinator.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Program Director to develop and implement the organization’s annual strategic plan.
- Partner with the Executive Director and grant writer to translate organizational priorities into compelling funding opportunities and communications.
- Foster collaboration across departments to ensure fundraising, marketing, programming, and events are aligned in achieving organizational goals.
What You Bring to the Role
- A deep belief in the Girls on the Run mission and the limitless potential of every girl.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in fundraising, marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Demonstrated success building authentic relationships with donors, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners.
- Excellent storytelling, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strategic and analytical thinking with the ability to translate data into action.
- Experience supervising and developing staff.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- BA or BS in communications, marketing, nonprofit, business administration or similar fields preferred.
- A collaborative, proactive, and adaptable leadership style.
- Creativity, curiosity, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work independently while thriving as part of a team.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for events and community engagement.

Salary Range $80,000 – $90,000 Benefits Girls on the Run of the Rockies offers health, vision and dental plans to its employees. Benefits also include short and long-term disability and retirement plan. Benefits start immediately but are based on tenure at the organization. Detailed information on benefits will be provided through the interview process and during your onboarding process. We offer generous PTO accrued monthly as well as office holidays. Work Environment Hybrid environment (combination in the DTC office, 7000 E Belleview, STE 130, Greenwood Village, CO / remote; may involve more in-office days around peak times of the season). Nights and weekends based on events and meetings.
