Internship Project Title:
Non-Profit Strategic Social Media Growth Project
Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver ReStores
Internship Role:
Digital Media and Marketing Intern
Non-Paid, For-Credit Internship
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In partnership with the marketing team, the Digital Media and Marketing Intern will have the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge to support Habitat’s marketing and communications initiatives. The project will be a “hands-on” learning environment that includes the creation and execution of a social media strategy plan for the four Habitat ReStore locations in Metro Denver. The internship will involve reviewing past successes and opportunities and developing new strategies to increase audience engagement on the ReStores’ social media accounts. The Intern will put their ideas and research into action and then evaluate the social media growth for the ReStores.
ABOUT THE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY RESTORES
Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver operates four ReStore locations in our area – Arvada, Aurora, Denver, and Littleton. The ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new (wholesale, liquidated, etc.) and gently used furniture, appliances, building materials, and home goods at discounted prices. Proceeds from ReStore sales directly fund Habitat’s work to build, repair, and preserve affordable homes in local Metro Denver communities and around the globe. In addition, the ReStores offer a sustainable shopping alternative by keeping thousands of pounds of reusable items out of landfills, recycling valuable metals, and directing wholesale goods to interested shoppers, rather than to the dump. Every purchase builds homes, communities, and hope.
HOW THIS PROJECT WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
The Habitat ReStores appeal to individuals who want to support a meaningful cause, shop sustainably, and find great deals on home goods. Through strategic social media content and campaigns, the ReStores can amplify these messages, reach wider audiences, and inspire more people to shop, donate, and get involved.
This internship will play a key role in supporting major campaigns—including the annual ReStore Earth Day Sale in April—giving the intern valuable experience in planning and executing social media initiatives that drive both sales and mission impact.
