Job Summary
The Director of Data Access leads CIVHC’s consultative sales and customer engagement work to drive sustainable revenue growth and serves as the organization’s primary business development leader. This role focuses on developing and nurturing long-term relationships with partners and clients across the health care ecosystem, understanding their needs, and aligning CIVHC’s data and analytic solutions to create meaningful impact consistent with our mission.

The Director of Data Access will guide the work of the Data Access Team to identify and secure new client opportunities, support customer retention, expand CIVHC’s reach across key markets, and collaborate with internal teams to advance product and service offerings. This position combines strategic relationship development, client success leadership, and team enablement to strengthen CIVHC’s role as a trusted data and analytics partner.

Hybrid Work Model
This position is based in Denver, Colorado. Because CIVHC operates under a hybrid work model with a requirement of at least one in-office day per week (unless otherwise approved), candidates must reside within a commutable distance to the Denver metro area.

Limited relocation assistance may be available for out-of-state candidates who intend to relocate to the Denver area.

Duties / Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
Responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the development of a consultative sales strategy focused on understanding client goals and aligning CIVHC solutions to meet their strategic needs. Actively participate in CIVHC’s organization-wide efforts to develop new revenue streams, product and service offerings.
  • Support the Data Access Team to identify new audiences and market segment(s) and support the creation of value propositions to generate leads generation and identify new clients.
  • Collaborate with Impact team to develop materials, including marketing collateral, case studies, and presentations, ensuring that they are compelling, customized to client needs, and reflect the organization’s strengths.
  • Drives revenue growth by expanding CIVHC's footprint within existing accounts and identifying opportunities to deepen engagement and broaden service offerings.
  • Oversees documentation of sales pipeline, conversion rates and other key statistics in Salesforce.
  • Leverages metrics and reporting to inform decisions; contributes to goal setting and KPI development related to earned revenue and partnership success.
  • Participates in CIVHC’s Senior Leadership Team, working closely with other department leaders to foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that promotes CIVHC’s strategic goals and objectives and operational excellence.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction through strategic account management and resolution of issues; develops strategies for dealing with obstacles, customer objections, and competitive situations.
  • Participates in key industry conferences and events to promote CIVHC.
  • Supports financial forecasting and budget planning related to business development.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the daily activities of the Data Access Team, including coordination of client engagement workflows, sales tracking, and team goal attainment.
  • Coaches staff in consultative selling, relationship management, and collaborative account planning.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, and mentors departmental staff.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and coaching.
  • Leads cross team and cross department collaboration and partnership within CIVHC, to ensure coordination and efficiency in the execution of day-to-day tasks.
  • Includes oversight of Salesforce within the Data Access Team to support reliable forecasting and pipeline visibility.

Required Skills / Abilities

  • Strong consultative sales and negotiation skills, with a focus on long-term partnership development.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate across teams toward shared revenue goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience tailoring messages to diverse audiences.
  • Experience developing sales strategies, outreach plans, and business proposals.
  • Strong understanding of the health care landscape, especially related to data use and policy.
  • Strong experience using Salesforce as a CRM tool
  • Willingness to learn the structure, use cases, and available data within the Colorado All Payer Claims Database (APCD).
  • Ability to build relationships with partners across multiple sectors.
  • Skilled in market research, including market research, competitive analysis, audience segmentation, and sales forecasting.
  • High emotional intelligence, initiative, and adaptability.
  • Experience supervising other team members and cultivating their success.
  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, public health, marketing, or a related field; 7 years of progressive experience in consultative sales will be accepted in lieu of education.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, sales, or client relationship roles in health care, technology, data analytics, or other mission-driven sectors.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience managing a team is required.

Physical Requirements
Primarily computer-based work with extended periods of sitting, typing, and concentration. May occasionally require light lifting of office materials.

Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $120,000 – $130,000 annually, based on experience, education, and internal equity.
