About the Role

PCs for People is a nonprofit sustainable social enterprise with the majority of our revenue coming from earned income. The Director of Development and Marketing will lead in growing and sustaining our core revenue generating business elements. This includes grant making and philanthropy, and distribution of computers to nonprofit organizations as well as nationwide distribution of computers to low income individuals through events and other partner platforms.

The Director of Development and Marketing is responsible for developing and executing the development, impact, sales and marketing strategies that drive revenue growth, enhance brand visibility, and ensure customer satisfaction. As a sustainable social enterprise this role will lead our community impact, and marketing teams in order to meet revenue goals and ensure we meet or exceed community impact metrics. Reporting directly to the CEO and supervising mid to senior-level leaders, the Director of Development and Marketing will play a crucial role in the strategic direction and national scaling of our services.

 

This position will be located onsite in one of our markets.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Community Impact Leadership

  • Develop Strategic Plans: Create and implement actionable strategies to generate approximately one-third of the annual budget through various channels, including retail revenue, grants, sponsorships, gifts, donations, and fundraising and sales events.
  • Partnership and Outreach: Lead and develop key relationships with nonprofit organizations, government entities, foundations, individuals, and other stakeholders.
  • Training and Mentorship: Train and mentor Community Impact Managers in grant writing and development skills, ensuring they are well-equipped to contribute to the organization's success.
  • Donor Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing donors and train Community Impact Managers to do the same. Ensure effective stewardship and recognition of donor contributions.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Lead, mentor, and motivate the Community Impact team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to enhance their performance and growth.
  • Sales and Marketing Training: Collaborate with Community Impact Managers to ensure they receive comprehensive sales and marketing training. Build and document processes and systems as needed.
  • Donor Records Management: Oversee the maintenance of all foundation, government, and corporate donor files and records. Develop and administer fundraising programs in compliance with IRS guidelines.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the development department's budget, ensuring responsible allocation of resources to maximize impact and ensure the team meets KPIs.
  • Reporting: Provide accurate and timely fundraising and community impact reports to the CEO, highlighting key performance metrics and financial analysis.
  • Human Resources Oversight: Oversee team aspects of human resources functions, including payroll approvals, time-off requests, and performance evaluations for the development team.
  • Trend Monitoring: Monitor fundraising trends and best practices, adapting strategies to capitalize on emerging opportunities and ensure continued growth and success.

Marketing Leadership

  • Brand Strategy and Planning: Enhance PCs for People's brand by developing a comprehensive marketing strategy and annual plan to scale national operations and grow audiences for products, services, and national impact.
  • Communications and Vendor Management: Oversee the development of marketing communications, public relations activities, marketing vendor management, and event management, ensuring all goals and timelines are met or exceeded.
  • Campaign Execution: Oversee the creation and execution of marketing campaigns across various channels, including digital, print, social media, and events.
  • Budget Management: Manage the marketing budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources for maximum impact.
  • Brand Identity and Strategy Implementation: Develop and maintain the company's brand identity and implement marketing and branding strategies for new and existing products, ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms and communications.
  • Department Oversight: Oversee the marketing department, consistently identifying opportunities within our established client base and ensuring growth by securing new accounts.
  • Team Leadership: Lead the marketing team responsible for creating and distributing all company literature, sales materials, and marketing content.

Requirements

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 7-10 years of years of experience in sales and marketing experience, including experience managing high performing teams
  • 7-10 years Grant development experience
  • Must be able to inspire trust and camaraderie in employees of all levels and potential business partners
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful sales strategies
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and perform under pressure
  • Excellent written, proposal development and verbal communication skills
  • Must have strong organizational skills and be able to work with little supervision
  • Public speaking skills
  • Previous non-profit experience helpful
  • Experience scaling with a growing organization
  • Efficacy & comfort in both startup and high pace environments
  • Proven ability to enthusiastically lead & mobilize an evolving team through change and high-growth periods in an organization’s trajectory
