The Director of Fundraising & Community Outreach supports the Foundation’s fundraising and development efforts by helping to develop and implement fundraising and outreach strategies, cultivate donor relationships, and manage fundraising campaigns – all with the goal of diversifying the Foundation’s donor base and ensuring that fundraising efforts are equitable and inclusive.

Description

The Director of Fundraising & Community Outreach is a key role within the Cherry Creek Schools Foundation, responsible for supporting the organization's fundraising and development efforts under the guidance of the Executive Director. The successful candidate will assist in developing and implementing fundraising strategies, cultivating donor relationships, and managing fundraising campaigns.

The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for education, a track record of fundraising success, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with donors and community partners. The Director of Fundraising & Community Outreach will also play a key role in championing the diversification of the Foundation’s donor base and ensuring that the organization’s fundraising efforts are equitable and inclusive. The Foundation is seeking candidates who are committed to advancing equity and who have experience working with diverse communities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to achieve annual fundraising targets in support of the Foundation’s mission and goals.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and community partners.
  • Support fundraising events and campaigns, ensuring they meet fundraising goals.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to identify funding priorities and opportunities for growth.
  • Manage and support board committees, including coordinating meetings, providing resources, and facilitating communication among committee members.
  • Manage a portfolio of donors under $5,000.
  • Develop and implement community outreach strategies to engage with diverse community groups and stakeholders, including organizing and attending community events, meetings, and forums to promote the Foundation’s mission and fundraising initiatives.
  • Champion the diversification of the donor base with an equity mindset.
  • Contribute to endowment growth through strategic initiatives and partnerships.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a planned giving program, including identifying potential donors, creating marketing materials, and stewarding planned giving.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but other relevant experience in nonprofit fundraising or a related field will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of professional work experience, with at least 3-5 years of experience specifically in nonprofit fundraising or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Experience in program management preferred, with the ability to apply program management principles to fundraising initiatives.
  • Equity mindset and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to work effectively with various stakeholders both externally and internally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides) and experience with donor databases and fundraising software.
