Summary:

The Director of Information Systems reports directly to the CIO and provides leadership for the Information Systems team and manages a dynamic portfolio of predominantly cloud-delivered enterprise business applications including ERP, SIS, CRM, data stores, and reporting systems as well as the university’s data management and integration strategy.  This position will apply strong communication, decision-making, and project management skills to assist departments with the selection and deployment of mission-critical information systems.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
 
Plans, coordinates, and directs implementation, integration, and maintenance of all enterprise information systems including but not limited to enterprise resource planning (ERP), student information system (SIS), campus portal, ecommerce, data stores and reporting systems, and CRM systems. Requires advanced skills in project management, and systems and business analysis. Strong decision-making and judgment skills are required to maintain superb data management, integrity, and security for all enterprise data.
 
Reviews and analyzes existing applications’ effectiveness and develops strategies for improving and leveraging systems. Works closely with departments and functional users to assess needs and solve problems related to specific applications. Requires exceptional interpersonal relationship skills and effective problem-solving abilities. 
 
Researches and makes recommendations on software products and services in support of procurement and development efforts.  Coordinates feasibility studies for software and system products under consideration for purchase, and gives advice based on findings.  Participates on committees formed to define requirements for new software acquisitions.
 
Works with cloud software vendor technical and project resources to develop service level agreements and strategic plans, schedule software patches and new releases, resolve deficiencies, and ensure system availability and security.
 
Lead the development of the university’s data management and integration strategy to align with its enterprise application architecture to improve application agility to meet business objectives.  Manage data integration projects.
 
Collaborates with university stakeholders to develop reporting and data analysis requirements, identify data sources, and populate databases and data warehouses to support campus reporting and data analytics.
 
Coordinate identity and access management requirements for role-based security and access to software application with the Director of Computing and Network Systems.
 
Serves as the key liaison with the Banner User Group and Data Stewards Group committees on campus.
 
Formulates and regularly tests Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan for all information systems. Requires a good understanding of campus policies and organizational structure.
 
Assists the Vice President for Information Technology with input and justification for the Information Technology budget and monitors expenditures.  
 
Works with software vendors and Purchasing to establish and maintain software license and subscription agreements.
 
Minimum Qualifications Required
• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university in an appropriate computer related field, and five years related experience and/or training in information systems with at least three of those years in a supervisory role, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
• Requires experience in report generation tools.  
• Expertise in a programming language such as SQL/PLSQL, Java, and JavaScript.  Expertise in ETL, iPaaS, and data warehouses.
• Expertise in Information Technology Project Management.
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with higher education ERP systems and data integration technologies.
