Director of Policy & Economic Impact

The Story

The Arvada Chamber of Commerce is leading a strategic initiative, B.O.L.D. 2026 (Big Opportunities For Leaders To Deliver), focused on improving persistent business challenges, including talent, housing, childcare, and the business environment. We are evolving our team of tenacious problem solvers who will work to ensure that our region is the strongest in the country by increasing collaboration, aligning performance measures, designing sustainable systems, and sharing best practices.

 

Your Day-to-Day

Childcare & Housing Programming Implementation

  • Expand partnerships with critical stakeholders in the housing and childcare industries to build on current and prospective partnerships.
  • Identify external collaboration opportunities to enhance housing and childcare outcomes.
  • Lead planning, execution, and monitoring of housing and childcare projects. (Ie. Family Friendly Workplace Certification Program, Housing Advocates Program).
  • Coordinate internal and external project teams, set milestones, and manage resources.
  • Serve as a prominent representative at external housing and childcare events.
  • Participate in conferences, meetings, and events that showcase the Arvada Chamber of Commerce’s expertise and contributions to improving housing and childcare outcomes.

Advocacy & Policy Support

  • Diligently monitor and track bills and ballot questions, providing analysis to understand their potential economic impact on our stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in and support the efforts of the Advocacy Council and Network, facilitating communication and collaboration to advance shared objectives and initiatives.
  • Assist in the strategic planning and execution of advocacy events, focusing on outreach efforts to maximize engagement and impact within the community and among key stakeholders.

Increase Business Engagement

  • Establish relationships with employers to support their engagement in B.O.L.D. 2026.
  • Facilitate a quarterly group of regional HR leaders to engage employers in strategies to mitigate talent, housing, and childcare business challenges.
  • Support the development of a Learning Management System (LMS) to enhance businesses’ ability to learn and engage through an asynchronous environment.

 

Must-Have Skills

  • Strategic thinker: Ability to think strategically around systems change and have a big picture perspective.
  • Public speaking and presentation: Excellent written, phone, and verbal communication abilities that command audience respect.
  • Knowledge of local and regional housing and childcare systems: Understanding of the regional housing and childcare landscape, as well as the key regional partners and factors that impact Jefferson and Adams Counties economies.
  • Data collection and interpretation: Understanding of economic, workforce, and demographic data collection and a solid ability to collect, interpret, and tell a meaningful story using the data.
  • Business development: Form and nurture long-term partnerships that lead to growth opportunities between organizations and partners.
  • Flexibility: Adjust to short-term change quickly and calmly so that you can deal with unexpected problems or tasks effectively.
  • Customer service: Maintain a high level of engagement, empathy, problem-solving, and communication with internal and external partners.
  • Project/process management: Manage priorities, processes, contracts, timelines, and task deliverables across a variety of overlapping projects.

  • Technological proficiency: Comfort with technology, including Google Suite, basic social media, and contact management.

 

The Environment

The Arvada Chamber team is dynamic and committed to the success of our organization and community. While team members are given flexibility – they are held accountable to performance measurements to ensure objectives are achieved. Early mornings and occasional evening meetings are a part of our work, and all team members are asked to attend as appropriate. Applicants must travel efficiently to off-site meeting locations throughout the region. The Chamber team embraces our team values and will seek candidates willing to commit to the culture we have built.
