Director, State and Local Affairs
Summary
The Director of State and Local Affairs will handle the department's activities and resources to ensure alignment with the mission, values, and objectives of the department and organization. The Director coordinates strategies on the state and local level related to regulatory and legislative issues impacting the organization’s mission. This role will engage with government officials, community groups and additional external stakeholders around healthcare policy and legislative matters. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the legislative process, strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the administrative, legal and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
Execute a comprehensive government affairs strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission and goals.
Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments that impact the healthcare industry.
Build relationships with key stakeholders, industry associations, and community organizations across the state. Collaborate with the communications team to convey the organization’s positions on key issues impacting patient care and operations. The Director will report to the VP of Government and Regulatory Affairs.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's degree in related field.
Required Licensure/Certification: None required.
Minimum Experience: 5 years of relevant experience.
Skills and Abilities
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
The pay range for this position is: $144,872.00 – $231,795.20 annually. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
