Summary

Founded in 1984, Colorado Preservation, Inc. is a statewide nonprofit organization that promotes historic preservation by providing information, education, training, expertise, and advocacy. The Donor Support Specialist reports to the Executive Director and provides the administrative and detailed support required to strengthen and build CPI’s member and donor experience. Other position responsibilities include support of CPIs member benefit programs which includes the conference.

Description

LOCATION: The contractor will work remotely, communicating with the Executive Director and Events & Development Manager virtually every week by Zoom, and in regular communication by email (approximately every other day). Strong preference to be in the Denver, Colorado, metro area. The contractor will need to attend the Saving Places conference February 11-13, 2026 at the Doubletree Hotel in Denver (Central Park). CPI will pay for your rooms to attend.

DURATION: Stipend based on tasks approximately 10 hours/week.

JOB SUMMARY: The Donor Support Specialist works alongside CPI’s Executive Director and Events & Development Manager. The Donor Support Specialist primarily supports the organization by soliciting new donors and retaining existing donors through thank you campaigns and donor outreach activities. CPI hosts additional smaller membership events and workshops throughout the year for which the contractor will support in tracking and gift acknowledgment. The Contractor additionally supports CPI’s membership program and annual appeal, sending renewal asks, acknowledgments, and keeping our donor database (Little Green Light) current and up-to-date.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Donor Support

· Record gifts and membership renewals in organization database (Little Green Light) – update database as needed (new addresses, phone numbers, etc.).  Eperience with Little Green Light or willingness to learn the platform is required – the position will need to track donations, pull reports and input individuals as donations and new members are secured.

· Prepare acknowledgment letters and correspondence for sponsorships, registrations, and donations

· Help brainstorm and secure new donors and members

· Help brainstorm and develop stronger donor/sponsor/member appreciation

· Work with Executive Director and Events & Development Manger to design and build donor/membership programs including direct marketing strategies to specific donor types.

POSITION SKILLS AND EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

· At least one year work experience relating to tasks identified whether it be events, member and donor support or or fundraising

· Bachelor’s degree preferred; possible relevant backgrounds include Business/Project Management, Marketing, Communications or related field.

· Organizational and time management skills to handle on-going and shifting priorities

· Attention to detail and an ability to balance multiple priorities at once

· Self-directed results-driven personality

· Excellent customer service skills

· Reliable written and verbal communications skills

· Experience with a donor or constituent database; CPI uses Little Green Light.

· Ability to work as a team member in a highly motivated, fun, and collaborative environment

· Familiarity with Vertical Response (used for email marketing) and WordPress (website) preferred

· Basic knowledge of historic preservation not required for this position, but a passion for, or background in, Colorado history or historic preservation a plus

COMPENSATION: $700/month. Potential for growth.
