Summary

CPI’s Events and Development Manager fills a critical role within the organization, planning and executing events throughout the year to include two of our organization's signature initiatives, the annual Saving Places Conference and its annual fundraiser, the Dana Crawford Awards. This position works closely with the public establishing relationships with event attendees, vendors, sponsors, organizational donors & members. This position oversees CPI's membership and assists with fundraising.

Organization Background: Founded in 1984, Colorado Preservation, Inc. (CPI) is a statewide nonprofit historic preservation organization that provides advocacy, education,
and technical assistance to individuals and communities across Colorado. CPI promotes the critical connection between people and place, working to ensure historic places are protected and activated for future generations. 

Position Summary: CPI’s Events and Development Manager fills a critical role within the organization, planning and executing events throughout the year to include th annual Saving Places Conference, annual fundraiser, membership and CO Gives Day/Year-end-giving campaigns.

CPI is looking for applicants who will meet deadlines, have excellent communication and writing skills and who can effectively manage their time to multi-task between ongoing priorities. 

Applicants must be professional, self-motivated, detail oriented, and able to work under tight deadlines.

Job Responsibilities:
• Manage and execute all aspects of the Saving Places Conference and event logistics to include managing contracts with the venue, facility use coordination, soliciting program content, speaker and session coordination, sponsor acquisition, event registration, and development of the registration websites using CVENT. 
• Oversee event volunteers and support staff
• Cultivate relationships with CPI members, sponsors, and donors
• Financial management of events, fundraising campaigns, memberships, and donations
• Execute fundraising campaigns to include CO Gives Day and end of year giving
• Manage CPI’s membership program with the help of a part-time assistant to distribute mailings, manage the member database, strengthen member relations, track monthly giving with the bookkeeper to ensure accuracy.
• Provide prompt and professional support via phone and email.
• Update the CPI website as necessary and pertaining to events
• Attend and present at quarterly board meetings 

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field to include Business/Project Management, Marketing, or Communications
• Minimum of two years of proven event management, event planning, marketing, fundraising and project management experience
• Demonstrated proficiency in effective time management, task prioritization, and meeting deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and balancing multiple
priorities simultaneously
• Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with limited direct supervision
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle on-going, revolving deadlines and shifting priorities under time and financial pressures
• Ability to work well with the public and preservation community, exhibiting strong customer service skills
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
• Ability to work as a team member in a highly motivated and collaborative environment
• Experience with CVENT. If no experience, applicant would need to commit to training
• CPI uses the following products, experience not required but a plus: Dropbox, Jotform, Vertical Response, WordPress, Little Green Light, Canva
• Graphic design experience a plus
• Basic knowledge of historic preservation not required for this position, but a passion
for, or background in, Colorado history or historic preservation a plus
