What does this role look like?

Reporting to the vice president of communications, this manager will lead a team of communicators to drive engagement among executive leadership at Lockheed Martin Space. The person in this role will develop and implement strategies across internal, external, and visual communications to deliver a compelling space narrative using reputation-building channels, as well as proactively secure opportunities for thought leadership.

This role will collaborate with other communications disciplines and partners to develop and lead integrated communications support for the Executive Vice President (EVP) of Space and key members of his leadership team. They will help us drive and shape critical conversations important to the industry and Lockheed Martin Space while mobilizing executive leaders to engage employees in key business issues.

They will play a vital part in reputation-building across a variety of stakeholder groups, including employees, customers, media, government, and future talent, in close collaboration with the entire Space Communications team. The person in this role will be an important member of the Communications Leadership Team, helping shape our overall strategy and approach.

This role will offer you the following daily challenges:

• Provide strategic counsel to the Space EVP and his Executive Leadership Team.
• Build and execute an annual engagement strategy that connects key executives more directly with internal and external stakeholders and influencers to ensure deeper understanding of Lockheed Martin Space’s mission, vision and business objectives.
• Develop integrated communications plans to ensure key executives are seen and heard in venues that provide clear opportunities to shape industry dialogue and influence perceptions driven by our Space narrative.
• Help executives share a clear enterprise-wide vision and equip them to drive culture change and organizational transformation among their teams.
• Manage internal engagement tactics for the EVP, such as all-employee and leader webcasts and town halls, events, videos, written communications, and podcasts. Create opportunities and support for other executive leadership team members to engage in the same activities.
• Manage reputation-building external engagement tactics for the EVP, such as social media, recruitment activities, community relations, media relations, events, and speaking engagements. Create opportunities and support for other executive leadership team members to engage in the same activities.
• Facilitate two-way communication and feedback sharing between executives and various stakeholders.
• Collaborate across the Space Communications Leadership Team and partner with the Corporate Communications Team to share information, best practices, and lessons learned
• Lead and empower direct reports through coaching, development, and continuous feedback

Basic Qualifications:
To be successful, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in one of the following disciplines: PR, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English or equivalent experience/combined education, with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with assignment.
• Previous executive and/or leadership communications experience, working directly with leaders at all levels to provide superior communication counsel, build relationships, encourage action and deliver outstanding results time and again.
• Team leadership and/or coaching experience, facilitating collaboration, growth, and development
• Ability to build both strategic and tactical plans that drive perceptions, deliver key messages and get results.
• Familiarity with a wide variety of communication channels, techniques, and emerging technologies, with a natural curiosity that leads to continuous improvement.
• Proven exceptional strategic, written, and verbal communication skills, with an ability to persuade and to motivate .
• You will need to be a US Citizen, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for this role.

•Experience leading and developing integrated strategic communications efforts that included internal and external stakeholders across a variety of enterprise-wide channels.
