Summary of Position 

The Executive Director is a savvy strategist and implementer. They report to the Board of Directors, manage contractors and staff, and lead fundraising strategy to ensure the organization has financial resources to carry out its work. The Executive Director is detail-oriented and a great project manager. They can execute programs, manage a team, and work with partner organizations. Along the way, the Executive Director will work toward growing the organization in service of building short-term and long-term power for Centennial State Prosperity to achieve our policy and electoral goals in Colorado.

Colorado currently faces a number of challenges to grow our economy, protect everyday Coloradans’ economic security, provide quality and affordable healthcare, expand housing we can afford, create a reasonable tax system, and maintain a fair democracy. Responsibilities: 

  • Manage day-to-day operations of Centennial State Prosperity, including managing staff & consultants, program & budget management, and relationship building. 
  • Develop, cultivate and steward relationships with major donors and foundations.
  • Oversee Centennial State Prosperity’s finances, develop fundraising plans, manage budgets, pay invoices, and sign contracts.
  • Help the organization develop, implement, and evolve plans to advance our mission.
  • Liaise with the Board of Directors to maintain strategic alignment, meet deliverables, and execute effective programs.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive plans that integrate political, legislative, and organizing work to advance economic security and elect pro-prosperity lawmakers.
  • Continue to position Centennial State Prosperity as a trailblazing organization that is trusted and relied upon by decision-makers, partner organizations, and hardworking Coloradans.
  • Manage Centennial State Prosperity’s paid and earned media efforts including managing contract communications staff, maintaining tracking documents, coordinating with vendors, reviewing and approving creative materials, and working with contract communications staff to ensure regular earned media hits about CSP’s priority issues
  • Work with legal team to ensure compliance with all relevant federal and state regulations.
  • Collaborate with Centennial State Prosperity’s Board of Directors to create and implement a plan to lead the organization into its next chapter.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to Centennial State Prosperity’s values and mission.
  • Proven experience in fundraising, creating and managing budgets, and building and implementing successful fundraising plans.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with issue, political, legislative and/or other advocacy. Experience specific to Colorado is a plus.
  • Successful track record of managing direct reports as well as experience in positively influencing teams without formal reporting structure.
  • Strong communicator who is able to adapt written and verbal communications to different targeted audiences and works well with a variety of partners including elected officials, partner organizations, and community members.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and be calm under pressure.
  • Comfortable with being on-the-record spokesperson and face of the organization.
  • Community and equity minded.
  • Knowledge of EveryAction, VAN, and/or other CRMs.

Compensation: 

  • This is a full-time position based in Denver, Colorado with an office near the State Capitol. Occasional work hours on weekends and up to 25% travel within Colorado.
  • Salary is $95,000-$110,000 including a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance stipend, monthly cell phone stipend, SIMPLE IRA retirement plan with employer match, and generous paid time off including vacation, sick leave, holidays, and family leave.
  • The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors.
