JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Center for the Arts Evergreen is seeking a dynamic and experienced Exhibitions Coordinator to join our team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead the artistic direction of our nonprofit art center, coordinating a diverse range of exhibitions and serving as a key liaison for our artist members. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the arts, highly organized, excellent with people, and skilled in curatorial practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Exhibition Coordination
    • Develop and curate 10 exhibitions annually in the Center for the Arts Evergreen gallery.
    • Coordinate mini exhibitions in the Cultural Elevation spotlight area and the Executive Classroom mini gallery.
    • Oversee the installation and de-installation of exhibitions, ensuring the highest standards of presentation and care for artworks.
    • Collaborate with artists, lenders, and institutions to secure and coordinate exhibition loans.
    • Solicit, gather, transport, and hang artwork for satellite galleries in Evergreen.
  • Sculpture Walk and Permanent Collection
    • Act as the main point of contact for the annual Sculpture Walk, coordinating with artists, sponsors, and the community to ensure a successful event.
    • Administer the permanent collection of 56 sculptures in Evergreen, overseeing maintenance, documentation, and public engagement.
  • Artist Relations
    • Serve as the main point of contact for all artist members, fostering strong relationships and open communication.
    • Track and coordinate membership benefits for artist members, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of benefits.
    • Advise artists on the development of artist statements and bios, providing constructive feedback and support.
    • Plan and execute professional development forums and workshops for artists, enhancing their skills and career opportunities.
  • Administrative and Collaborative Duties
    • Work closely with the Executive Director and other staff to align exhibition programming with the Center’s mission and strategic goals.
    • Assist with creating promotional materials, including exhibition catalogs, press releases, and social media content.
    • Develop and manage exhibition budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
    • Participate in fundraising and grant writing activities to support exhibitions and related programs.
    • Represent the Center for the Arts Evergreen at public events, fostering positive relationships with stakeholders, donors, and the community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Museum Studies, Arts Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of curatorial or exhibition coordination experience, preferably in a nonprofit or gallery setting.
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary art practices and trends.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with database management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Must be available to work some nights and weekends and all exhibition openings.
  • Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds, climb ladders, and other physical responsibilities of transporting and displaying artwork.
