In this role, you will position strategies across various areas, including Global Business and Corporate Communications across traditional and social channels, Crisis & Issues Management, and Employee Communications & Engagement. Focusing on elevating Western Union's transformation journey and support the implementation of an evolved positioning for one of the world's most global brands. Reporting to the Chief Corporate Affairs & Communications Officer and lead a global and diverse team of professionals with integrity, inclusiveness, and purpose. You will develop and implement the strategic global communications plan for the organization and its business units with clear links to strategic objectives and business goals, including a strategic resource allocation plan and defined success metrics for monitoring the implementation and performance of initiatives. In addition, you will build an integrated, data and capabilities-based, agile communications function that drives a strategic positioning plan while flexing to support emerging business needs. You will partner with executive leaders to implement an evolved corporate brand positioning supported by a refreshed corporate narrative to facilitate a perception shift of the brand with key stakeholder groups. Work collaboratively with executive management peers to drive cross-functional collaboration and enable integrated audience management. Implement comprehensive communications programs across earned, owned, and paid channels, leveraging a multi-platform approach across digital, social and traditional media that support Go-to-Market efforts for Western Union's consumer business as well as its emerging partner business.
Education or equivalent work experience is required with 15 or more years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, and a hands-on advisor, including management experience with proven staff mentorship and development expertise. You'll need a working knowledge of Financial Services, FinTech's, payments, or technology expertise. In addition, having exceptional writing and oral communication skills is essential. The ability to persuade and build consensus with internal and external stakeholders. A deep understanding of external news and media outlets/channels and how to navigate them. Show a proven ability to perform communication needs assessments (with key stakeholder analysis) to align communications with the needs of the business and define audiences to be addressed. Experience leading others and hands-on developing communication content tailored to the specific medium and audience requirements (e.g., emails, speeches, scripts, press releases, talking points, websites, briefing packets, preparation materials, backgrounders, training decks). Experience and proven effectiveness in managing crisis communications and sensitive issues. You'll have demonstrated experience building effective relationships with senior and executive management and a proven track record of effectively directing and supervising internal teams, outside agencies, and consultants. You'll lead a team by mentoring, motivating, coaching, consistently providing feedback, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation. A proven ability to manage budgets effectively. Experience with complex vendor management and governance. The ability to travel 30% or greater. Previous experience of lean and agile working methodologies is also desirable.

The on-target earnings range is $360,000-$410,000, which includes a base salary of $200,000 -$250,000, short-term (40% of base), and long-term (40% of base) incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary and are based on a candidate's qualifications, skills, and competencies.
