Position Summary

The Internal Communications Specialist provides strategic support to various communications initiatives, including supporting Centura Health’s internal newsletters and intranet, to achieve short- and long-term objectives for the health care system. The individual will assist with the development and implementation of internal messaging, programs and campaigns, and work closely with various departments to meet their communications needs in a timely fashion. Qualified candidates will have a strong writing background and proven success in building relationships to achieve communications goals. Experience working in highly collaborative environments and intranet content development experience are highly desirable.

Minimum Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, English, communications, public relations or related field preferred, or a combination of comparable education and experience.

Minimum Experience Requirements

2 years of experience in a role where writing, editing and critical thinking are key elements of the job function. Experience in internal/employee communications preferred as well as background in health care or a nonprofit setting.

Outstanding written, grammar and oral communication skills, with a strong proficiency in AP/journalistic style. Proven and successful track record of writing for a variety of purposes and audiences, using both print and electronic media. Must share portfolio of previous writing samples. Must be able to juggle multiple writing assignments in a deadline-driven environment with attention to detail and accuracy.

■Conceptualize, plan and complete writing assignments, including publication of two internal publications, in a creative, engaging, timely and accurate manner that clearly incorporate brand and key messages.*

■Support writing and editing of multiple internal communications, with a focus on telling stories that are compelling and relevant.*

■Manage the intranet site for communications to ensure content is up-to-date, accurate and consistent.*

■Work collaboratively with the manager of strategic communications to ensure all projects support goals/objectives of the health care system and implement tactical components of developed communications plans. *

■Ability to effectively work in partnership with colleagues throughout the system and have a strong team orientation.*
