Colorado Public Radio (CPR) is seeking a Junior Production Associate.
About the Position:
The Junior Production Associate will record and edit audio, mix and level music beds, cut clips and produce short promos or testimonials. You’ll also support production by assigning, producing, and loading spots, and may occasionally voice spots as well. Beyond your daily tasks, you’ll contribute each week to larger production projects such as recording donor testimonials, creating promos for specific initiatives, or assisting production team members with digital and on-air content. You’ll help cover production needs during high-demand periods, staff vacations, and fund drives, including supporting recording sessions and quick-turn production pieces.
This is a temporary, 10 – 11 month funded role. The position will work Monday – Friday, 30 hours a week. The new hire is expected to reside in the greater Denver metro area or Colorado Springs upon starting – this is not a remote position. However, a hybrid schedule is available that requires a minimum of 3 days in the office each week.
About You:
You’re deeply curious about audio storytelling and eager to learn new production techniques. You have sharp attention to detail—especially when it comes to editing, timing, and maintaining high audio quality—and you communicate effectively by asking questions, providing updates, and seeking feedback.
Flexibility and adaptability are key as you navigate shifting priorities and production demands. You bring a collaborative spirit and an openness to working closely with teammates, along with the initiative to identify opportunities for growth and take ownership of your work. Above all, you’re dependable and consistently deliver strong creative and technical results.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of 1 – 2 years with audio editing, mixing, cutting and music bed leveling experience.
- Proficiency with Adobe Audition (or similar audio editing software), along with strong general technology skills, and comfort navigating digital tools and file systems.
- Excellent writing skills and strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines and manage your time effectively in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift.
- Ability to engage in both collaborative and independent work.
- Ability to utilize active listening skills and a customer-service orientated mindset in managing work with colleagues.
Education Equivalency
- A fully relatable bachelor’s or master’s degree may replace some of the required years of experience needed to qualify for the position, but is not required for the role.
Even if you don’t meet every qualification listed, we’re interested in candidates who can bring unique skills, perspectives, and experiences to the role. At Colorado Public Radio, we are committed to building a diverse, inclusive, equitable and authentic workplace. If you're excited about this role, but your past experience doesn't perfectly align with every qualification in the job posting, we encourage you to apply as you may be the right candidate for this or other roles with us.
