Hiring Salary Range for Legal Office Administrator: $76,029- $91,235.

Eagle County Government is hiring for one open position. This role is designed to be filled at one of two levels—Legal Office Administrator or Paralegal—depending on the specific qualifications, certifications, and experience of the selected candidate.

Schedule: In-Person; M-F, 8 am to 5 pm.

Legal Office Administrator:

Provides responsible technical and advanced clerical support and office management to the County Attorney’s office to support county attorneys in the delivery of legal services to the Board of County Commissioners, elected officials, county departments, and county entities. Such duties include, but are not limited to, management of all office administration, performing a variety of complex and confidential executive-level duties, and file maintenance. Key Responsibilities:

  • Personnel Leadership: Supervises the Legal Assistant, including training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Financial Oversight: Manages the department budget, accounts payable/receivable, and drafts the yearly budget.
  • Workflow Management: Manages databases for office assignments, land use files, and the contract approval process from assignment to execution.
  • Inter-Departmental Liaison: Serves as the primary link between the County Attorney’s Office, IT, County Commissioners, and other elected officials.
  • Compliance & Records: Manages executive session agendas, monitors Letters of Credit/bonds, and maintains public documents via Laserfiche.
  • Office Operations: Facilities employee onboarding, maintains the department webpage, and problem-solves general office issues.

Qualifications:

Experience, Licensure, Certification, or Registration:

  • At least four years’ progressively responsible administrative support or related experience
  • Preferred Education: College coursework or an Associate's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
  • Preferred work experience: Previous experience in law office, accounts payable, general ledger, or related field or a combination of education and experience that leads to the necessary knowledge skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Supervisory experience preferred

Paralegal:

Assists attorneys with legal work and case development in addition to providing responsible coordination, technical, and advanced clerical support and office management to the County Attorney’s office to support county attorneys in the delivery of legal services to the Board of County Commissioners, elected officials, county departments, and county entities. Such duties include, but are not limited to, management of all office administration, performing a variety of complex and confidential executive-level duties, and file maintenance. Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Drafting: Drafts and finalizes discovery requests, affidavits, briefs, pleadings, contracts, and legal memoranda.
  • Litigation Support: Manages the master litigation calendar, organizes case files, assembles exhibit binders, and assists in trial/hearing preparation.
  • CORA Management: Functions as the primary manager for CORA software; researches, compiles, and redacts documents for attorney review within statutory deadlines.
  • Case Development: Conducts legal research, summarizes depositions/interrogatories, and interviews witnesses.
  • Arbitration & Public Notice: Coordinates arbitration proceedings, manages relevant deposits, and handles legal notices for construction project settlements.
  • Document Quality: Formats and proofreads resolutions and complex legal correspondence for accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications:

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification, or Registration:

  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Preferred Education: College coursework or an Associate's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
  • Paralegal Certificate: Required
