The Outward Bound Services Group (OBSG) is a member managed national marketing organization responsible for providing branded marketing and admissions services that drive enrollment on expedition courses at eight member schools throughout the United States. Services provided include:

  • Sets strategy for the Outward Bound brand and for marketing national Open Enrollment (OE) programs
  • Manages national website and other online assets such as social media, directories, paid advertising in support of Outward Bound and its national OE programs
  • Manages national call center in support of national OE program enrollment
  • Develops demand generation programs to drive enrollment for member schools
  • Manages media strategies to build brand awareness, drive consideration and leads
  • Generates enrollment through national group sales and partnerships

OBSG’s Marketing Coordinator position is responsible for branded content creation in a variety of channels including email marketing, social media and the blog. The Marketing Coordinator supports all targeted marketing campaigns, promotions and brand communications and performs other marketing duties, as needed. The Marketing Coordinator reports to the Digital Marketing Director and works with other OBSG team members on a project-by-project basis. Functions & Responsibilities

Email Newsletters

  • Manage Mailchimp account, including lead management and oversight of email lists and groups
  • Maintain an email schedule that corresponds to national campaigns and promotions
  • Regularly create HTML emails for several group/segment newsletters
  • Create HTML emails and manage automations
  • Report on key metrics and provide direction on email marketing

Social Media & Blog

  • Support national social media sites including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Post regularly in social media and monitor and respond to comments and messages
  • Maintain a blog schedule that corresponds to national campaigns and promotions
  • Manage a small group of internal blog contributors who write posts and provide images for the national blog
  • Contribute posts to the national blog on a regular basis
  • Report on key metrics and provide direction on social media and blog

Marketing Team Support

  • Support Digital Marketing Director and the OBSG team in achieving website marketing, enrollment, and creative communication goals
  • Partner with marketing team in support of digital marketing campaigns and content creation to support campaigns throughout the year

Additional Responsibilities

  • Manage Outward Bound branded gear store
  • Assist with course uploads to the database and website
  • Other Marketing duties, as required
     

Knowledge & Skills

  • Basic marketing principles and practices
  • Strong writing skills to develop and edit email, blog and social content
  • Strong email marketing skills and competency with HTML
  • Knowledge or experience with social media as it relates to marketing
  • Basic photo management, selection and editing skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Effective communication, both written and oral
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively as a team member
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Competency using basic Content Management Systems for websites and/or blogs, like WordPress
  • Basic knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite a plus

Education & Work Experience

  • Experience in Email Marketing, Blogs and Social Media required
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing or equivalent experience

Compensation

  • Full time benefit eligible position; benefits include medical, dental, vision and paid vacation
  • Starting salary range between $38,000 and $42,000 and commensurate with experience
