What You'd Do

Develop and implement marketing and promotional plans targeting diverse audiences for a variety of library programs and services in conjunction with departmental strategic plans by creating goals and objectives that meet business needs and initiatives. Analyze customer insights, consumer trends, market analysis, and marketing best practices to build successful strategies. Manage the library's brand including implementing brand awareness campaigns, setting of style guides, brand guidelines, brand vision, value proposition for short as well as long term, brand audits, staff training and management of internal brand ambassadors. Lead the development, design and publication of marketing collateral such as Engage! (our monthly publication), reports, brochures, postcards, bookmarks and flyers in conjunction with internal and/or external designers and other staff. Perform substantive editing and organizes, reviews, and coordinates text for major organizational publications. Negotiate printing and publication contracts and leasing agreements and arranges purchasing agreements with vendors. Plan and execute all digital marketing including external online newsletters, social media and display advertising campaigns. Measure and report on the performance of marketing campaigns, gains insight and assesses against goals for future campaign development and go-to-market strategies. Lead the creation and implementation of our social media strategy including social media guidelines, ad campaigns, staff training and development of tools for branches. Develop and implement annual advertising plans that support the overall library strategic plan and special programs including ad buys, ad concepts, budget tracking, measurement and performance. Oversee internal and external signage for the entire library system which includes assessing needs, developing signage plan and working with vendors and branches for installation. Develop and manage the budget for the work function(s) and allocates funds within the budget to accomplish objectives. Manage the work of professional staff members engaged in the design, preparation, and production of marketing and promotional programs. Serve as a city representative on various committees and fosters collaborative relationships that benefit the organization. Communicate annual work plans to employees and ensure employees are focused on the work plans and achieving performance standards.

Select, train, develop subordinate staff and make decisions on hiring, terminations, promotions, and disciplinary actions as required. Develop goals, document performance, provide performance feedback and formally evaluate the work of the employee; provide rewards and recognition for proper and efficient performance. Assist staff to achieve performance standards and identify opportunities for continual improvement to performance standards. Encourage and guide others toward goals. Resolve problems, mediate conflicts encountered during daily operations, determine appropriate solutions, and promote teamwork. Encourage regular communication and inform staff of relevant business issues and their impact on the organization.
 
 

You Have

Knowledge of social media platforms, their effectiveness and measurement. Knowledge of different marketing platforms and alternative ways to promote programs and services. Knowledge of how to measure marketing plans and campaigns. Knowledge of using data to drive marketing strategies and tactics. Knowledge of the latest trends and best practices in online and traditional marketing. Knowledge of branding, market analysis and research techniques. Knowledge of budgeting principles and practices. Skill in the practice of effective, persuasive communication, both orally and in writing. Skill in checking information for accuracy and completeness and correcting errors. Skill in effectively expressing ideas and facts to individuals or groups both orally and in writing. Ability to think creatively and innovatively. Ability to develop the Library's mission, vision and values into an action plan for the marketing team. Ability to establish priorities, multi-task and meet deadlines. Ability to work and collaborate with a diverse group of people. Ability to model a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and a sense of humor. Ability to creatively solve problems, negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner. Ability to create and maintain positive staff and partner relationships. Ability to pass a background check after the hire to hire has been made. Proven experience in identifying target audiences and in creatively devising and leading across channels marketing campaigns that engage, educate and motivate. A sense of aesthetics and a love for great copy and witty marketing tactics. Experience reaching multicultural audiences using a variety of marketing tools.  
 
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration or a related field.

Three years of progressive professional experience in Marketing/Communications. Two of those years were writing and editing copy for professional or popular publications.

Spanish language fluency (preferred, not required).

Although the full salary range is provided for the position, offers depend on qualifications and typically do not exceed the midpoint. The City and County of Denver benefit package will be offered.
